Do they still see themselves in that light? Yes. They're view is one an idealistic portrayal which couldn't be further from the truth. No other country has such aggressive internal and foreign policies. In many ways Nazi Germany is heaven sent when compared to modern day America. It's reliance on secrecy is disgusting and the justification of it is even worse.

All I'm going to say is research American history. Australia shouldn't be proud of its origins, but in the exact same sense on a much larger scale, Americans shouldn't either.

You're asking about our origin.

We hopped on a boat and founded Jamestown and murdered and killed Native Americans that were in the area.

We did the same thing that any other country did before us when founding a new nation.

That's the idea here, the idea of pulling yourself up from your bootstraps and doing something to better your life and the lives of your family and relatives.
