Short Phrases = Spam

The rule is incredibly supportive of less activity. Encouragement is all someone needs sometimes, and the fact that criticism in the form of suggestions of improvement is required almost seems counter productive.

It really should be removed. Unknowledgeable people might just like the piece, and with no graphics knowledge, they now can't express any positive feelings on a piece without spending longer amounts of time nitpicking and finding something the person should improve.

Tl;dr encouragement shouldn't have to be elaborate.

 

Support, I don't have a lot of knowledge about graphics and simply liked a piece of art someone made, complimented the artist and got infracted for that.

So as you said, people like me with not much knowledge can't really give advice to other artists who actually are average/good at it.

Support. The sticky "Short Phrases Are Considered Spam!" is extremely vague. What's the minimum amount of words in order for the phrase to be non-infraction worthy? Not entirely sure why Moonglare decided to add/sticky that, but Alteranz's sticky in that section was sufficient enough in my opinion.

 

I agree that it discourages posting, when it should be the opposite. When I see the spam reports crop up I always think it's a bit harsh.

I don't think it was necessary, so I support the removal.

I don't support full removal but being more specific on what constitutes spam and being more lenient would increase activity without comprimising the section.

There have been many people's pieces that i have really liked and thought were really good. Me not having any kind of graphics knowledge (other than doodling in paint) have no clue on any tips/advice to offer the artists. This is probably why the gallery is sorta dead. Buy the way i see alot of people posting support.. might want to have this moved into the suggestion section instead of feedback jiwi

The intent was to stop all the newcomers trying to raise postcount in the graphics section just by posting 'cool dude!' However, I am supportive of anything you all may have in mind. Will was the one nagging me to make the sticky so I'm sure he has something to say...

 

If this was a hustling and bustling graphics based forum then I'd be inclined to agree with moon, however it's not so this rule is just silly.

 

Obviously spam is spam Moon. The forum rules state that spam isn't allowed... You can infract for it and delete it without making it a sticky in your section and infracting people who (even if they post something short) are only trying to help (like Add My MSN).

 

I hate to say this, but Moon I think you made a mistake here. The Graphics section is that "busy" and "crowded" for the need to implement this rule. It basically removes the chance of getting motivated if every work you make gets criticized.

 

This was the intent, I do agree and apologize for giving Add My MSN a warning :3 However, the rule will be fully implemented @ people obviously trying to raise post count.

Hhmmm I'd say support.
How ever if the rule was changed or removed, I'd still infract people if their name appears as the last post on 5+ suggestion threads just saying "Support" or "No Support". Sometimes all you can say is just support or no support, how ever over say 5 suggestions, if you have actually read the suggestion properly you can always find something to improve on or change.
