would anybody really use it though?

 

I fear it could be too much of an invasion of privacy. It would help out immensely for those who want to find vaders and investigate things when they aren't staff though.

 

I think it should be available upon request, as it would be too much for most people IMO

 

With a little bit of research, it's quite easy to find out whether or not the person whom you are dealing which is an actual fact, a ban evader. But I would be all for this notion.. would be a great tool!

Too much invasion for non-staff I think. It'd be handy, but far too easily abused.

EDIT: I think I misread. As long as no IPs are exposed I think it could be alright.

 

If no IP's are exposed then I see no negatives at all. If anything, all it will do is decrease a massive amount of scams.

 

Wouldn't some people have overlapping last few digits?
Maybe if an IP checker was coded or bought that displayed other accounts without having to show IPs themselves to the end user, that would be more handy.

 

It is certainly an invasion of privacy. Over the years of the forum's life, I have come to identify that a large percentage of members have a moderate to high level of knowledge when it comes to hacking. This could be detrimental.

I believe that the IP check system only be accessible to staff members and administrator's. It is too risky to allow people to access people's IP .

 

Perhaps something like you compare one persons IP to another persons IP and it would not reveal their IP, it would just say it matches/doesn't match/is similar lattitude/longitude?

Meh it's not an invasion of privacy since it doesn't give you the whole IP address. I think this is just what the community needs!

It works for me. I absolutely love the hashed IP feature. It's a really convenient way to do a background check on newcomers. I'll be using this, for sure.

Could you perhaps disable the captcha by substituting it with a logged-in check?

 

I love looking at my own audit.... So many matches w/ other users due to mobile IP's.
