Wouldn't get your hopes up

Just FYI Jagex has done this before: bringing back the old game in a flurry of promotion and understanding.

They did this with Runescape classic during and after the transition between classic and RS2. At first, for the first year or two, there were still a lot of people playing, if I remember correctly they had something like 20 worlds just for classic. However, because Jagex wants people to play the newer version of their game so badly, they made it members only. Eventually, they made it so that only accounts that played the original classic during its glory days could play.

They opened it twice again to the public for a week (or so) since then, but still, classic remains a perfect example of what this will likely become.

Doing things like this is a great way for Jagex to gain a bunch more money and a bunch more members, but once that glory fades away and they start sitting at their regular $ and membership level, they will nerf 07 scape just as they did with classic.

Just a warning - history is bound to repeat itself lol.

 

Maybe. The 350K votes in favour of the 07scape gives it more hope.

 

Either way, I played back then so I can get in. I accidentally bought the membership on my more recently made main, rather than my RSC Veteran account which I should have done so I could access everything...

 

I'm going to disagree... Not because I don't think your conclusion is far off base but classic stayed around for a long time. And this is rolling back to the good old days. Classic was just split off from the main game and you could choose to play the current game or the classic game. This is a complete reset. It's a lot different.

It's only going to last a year or maybe less, something like that. It's like playing Mario on Super Nintendo you can play it for so long then it gets old playing the same thing over and over without any updates.

 

I said this on twitter to jagex the day It was announced.

Never heard back, but we all know the way jagex think. We all know the way jagex does things and we all know how much jagex have fucked up in the past.

And considering they put a vote on it might change things... But again, its jagex they don't even know whats going on...

Good valid point, however rs2007 was wanted by many, many more members. The old school players didn't want to go too far back to the classic days as the 07 version was far better and fun.

 

This is different! Like others said, this was wanted by many people amnd theres no way its going to die.

 

The difference is classic was a different game and people already had a enjoyable runescape that they had created account on a trained for so many hours. For so many people 07 scape is the only reason they are now paying for runescape membership, eoc isn't even a option.

 

I personally don't think it will because if Jagex does it again I think they will loose a majority if not all of their 07 player base meaning the people who made the switch to 07 won't come back to RS13

 

Classic was active and crowded with players until they did bot nukes and didn’t allow new players to log in. It was still active for a while after the restrictions but died slowly but even showed potential of being able to attract players when they temporarily reopened for new players.
I think that rs2007 will stay populated until they take drastic actions like seen in rsc. I also agree with SuF that the rs2007 situation is totally different from the rs2/rsc split.
Jagex should also know by now that the rs2007 community will either quit or play rs2007 so trying to lure them to eoc would be pretty stupid since they are finally gaining some new players.

 

This is quite true. None of the updates are all that bad in themselves but like when you keep adding more and more updates that aren't so great you end up with a crappy game.

 

2007 scape has much more support. I played classic for like 10 minutes, this is much better, and a throwback from when i used to play.
