    This shit again......

So someone can post a thread, and someone says 'Added on MSN' and 3 hours later the OP posts back 'Added'. Thus circumventing the rules about 8 hour bumps, R2P and R2Anne were really bad about that. Is that no longer spam?

"Added" is specifically mentioned under the spam rule (I accidentally removed it a few weeks ago but I put it back).

No, I mean added as a generic non-use sentence used to circumvent the rules.

There really is no way to discern if a post is attempting to circumvent the rules or if the post is an attempt to actually do something productive. We could list a whole bunch of things that could be considered attempts to circumvent the bumping rule but then the market would simply become a lot less active and trading would move off the site because no one would be allowed to post anything. The point of a bumping rule really is to prevent people from bumping constantly so that a war of who can stay on the front page longest doesn't start and so that people can not quickly and artificially inflate their post counts. We can't have a perfect solution to this problem. It isn't possible. Not allowing double posting is a reasonable method of achieving the above goals without crippling the market. Even if someone posts 4 hours after the last post, they still have to wait 8 more to post the next time and since everyone can do this it is also perfectly fair.

I would have infracted it too. Think before you make a post "is this post necessary?" If it isn't and it is before the 8 hours of your last post chances are it is either spam or evading the bump rule. How is stating that you completed an order a necessary post? I would understand if you were to immedeiatly vouch for the guy after the trade was complete, but you didn't even do that.

Actually: Seeing the person hasn't vouched him or anything on the thread, it isn't that a big deal imo; If you supply a service, you surely will want to let your potentional future customers know that you have completed orders, don't you think? If he didn't post Order complete, only posted every 8 hrs; Online or whatever other form of bump and noone vouched, basically the whole thread would be full of posts, with no response, pretty much "hangin in the air"; Well at least in my opinion.

It's rather like a self advertisement in a way, don't you think? Because, when you see order complete, people will see that you have done that transaction, and those posts aren't just there because you bumped your thread, people filled out form, and you never even cared about them. Is this really a severe form of (extreme) bumping / posting?

Talking with your customers is only fine if they have a query otherwise posting "order completed" is just circumventing the bump rule and it isn't really an important post.

I do think it should be clarified however with examples of what is and what isn't okay.

I think it's a bit of a problem if you're viewing every post as either strictly necessary or spam/bump.

The bumping rule we have now is very specific in what it covers
If it's not a double/delete post within 8 hours, it isn't excessive bumping, ever. When a person last posted shouldn't factor into enforcement of this at all if it's not a double post. So if it's not a double post, the only thing it should be evaluated by is the spamming rule.
A post doesn't need to be "necessary" to not be spam. It needs to be on topic and not a "short, unhelpful comment".

That's how I see it. Unless you miraculously completed like 100+ orders and decided to use a 'completed this' for each one as your thread gets topped by others, I don't see how it is a problem to post one after you've finished it. For quest orders I usually post once I've completed them rather than wait the 8 hours because I really don't see it as spam, I even post at least one pic of a quest completed during the order if it's a bigger one(or obviously just one if that's the only one).

If posting something like this warranted an infraction for spam every time, I would have plenty of them by now.

The bumping rule is going to be discussed (again) by the staff soon, posts on this thread will be used for reference. I'll close this for now though.
