Report A Scammer section needs more attention

I had already posted that whenever a mod is online on PC that should be the first thing to check after giving a quick view in their section checking for phishers etc.

It is a priority. Whenever I see 4+ mods I just can't believe there's more than 1 report.

 

When there is a bunch of moderators online, I understand where you are coming from fully. Remember some reports are pending paybacks etc, so they stay in there. Even though I'm not staff and I probably won't be for a long time, I always check the RaSc to see if there is any really serious reports, and if so I take them straight to any mods/admins I have online at the time on MSN/Skype. I did the same with a user I got banned for RAT'ing the other day, with people like that there is no time to make a report, just get some screenies and chuck it at a mod. They can temp them to start. The only disadvantage is that they can also end up DDoSing you, which trust me isn't fun, especially when his skype status is offering people cash to DDoS me with my I.P in full view.

 

I think the majority of what needs to be said has already been said.
However, it shouldn't be up to staff to hold your hands in everything you do. Take some initiative and do what you can yourself. If every single report was posted with full, sufficient proof I assure you they would be dealt with in a more timely manner. We can't go ahead and issue bans based on half the story.
Also, I'm not here to try and shift the blame from the staff to the users, but if you compare this forum to most others, we're well ahead of the game.

 

Powerbot has 6 pending decision and 13 awaiting reply.

We have 10 open, 9 of them are pending decisions, and a whopping 7 of those aren't even properly formed reports, as they've contained skype logs but they've not showed the skype username at any point, just the display name. If the members had a bit more brain at reading stickies, maybe they would have been cleared up by now, leaving it with 1 fresh and 2 pending.

 

If someone actually follows the stickies and presents us with a valid scam report it would get done a lot quicker. Fact of the matter is many scam reports lack either the proper format (too many people do not read the SKYPE sticky) or proof. If someone puts everything in the proper format I doubt the report would stay open long. Also keep in mind some reports aren't to the expertise of certain mods. Personally I don't know much about steam accounts and i'm sure some others don't either.

I think SuF summed it up pretty well. If you ask me, I think scam reports are dealt with in a more than timely manner.

 

Pretty sure if staff is just going to keep posting redundant things and agreeing with one another over and over this thread can be closed, before it becomes a spam fest with others doing the exact same thing for a post count.

Looking at how busy Mods can be, kudos must be given to them for such timely handling of scam reports.

However, it is more often the user who lack proof to get a certain user banned. There's nothing much the Mod can do in these unfortunate cases.

 

Most of the reports that actually happen span over a few days as the proof they provided isn't enough to get the person banned and they don't update/ check it all that often, so I think they are already doing a good job.
Edit: Read the post wrong; There should be something they do about people that have scam reports on them, even if they are being falsley accused, just to let everyone know that there is a current report on them and give a link to the report so people see why, not like TWC because it may be false.

 

We should be allowed to voice our honest opinion just as much as everyone else, even if it means agreeing with each other.

Even though Corey comes off as brash, I agree with him. There is absolutely no way to get scammed if you take every precaution possible in something like a gold trade. Most scams are easily prevented if people take the time to research who they're trading with and protect themselves with MMs and such. 90% of all scams are easily preventable if people weren't retarded. The other 10% are things are like hacked trusted people, rouge members, and things like that. Even chargebacks can be prevented because most of the time chargebacks are part of trades that sound too good to be true. I've said this for the last year. If people don't want to get scammed they need to devote time to trading.

 

There is a difference in agreeing with each other, and posting the exact same things other have already posted more than once.. I have seen plenty of threads get closed because non staff members were just posting the same things over and over and most of the time the message from staff says "This has been addressed, its just becoming spam" and other similar messages..

If you don't have something new to bring to the table to support your reason for agreeing/disagreeing with the OP then it smells like spam to me. However the message below this is something new

How much extra time could it take for staff to click the users profile link in the scam report (If its filled out properly) and leave a note on their profile or perhaps under their user title that says (Under investigation)

This would let users know there is an open scam report on the user.

Or, add an Icon similar to TWC which represents an 'Open Report' against the user in question, it would have to be some kind of automated process that checks the thread name, and obviously wouldn't be permanent, but it'd help deter trading with users who have open scam reports.

 

Ranks would require admin action, and that can take a few days to go through. If you had to do that for EVERY scam report, it would be a mess.

 

Also, if someone has a report open and they are awaiting on the other person to confirm a date so they can pay them back, it's unfair on them. I've personally been waiting 2 weeks for someone to give me a date and a time so I can pay them back, but the only time I've had the chance was 5am my time, which obviously isn't do-able for me. It would seriously affect people's trading, therefore no support on the ranks.

 

Isn't that the point? It could link to the report, and if multiple lead to a page with all of the generated reports.

It's not thought through, unless you force certain formatting for scam reports, IE. [Ix Syed xI] Scam report.

Then it's a couple lines of code of searching new mysql entries, and then finding the profile in the database, then using that link to add it the minirank automation, not really a hard process. But I don't think it's worth it.

 

Alright I'm closing this now. Spam and scam reports both get handled at an EXTREMELY fast pace in comparison to how they were a year ago. The staff as a whole keeps good tabs on the section, and there is no need to further attempt to micromanage something that is already working well, especially in comparison to how bad it once was.
