Report A Scammer section needs more attention

I have been watching the section for a few days now, mostly because I have requested a few bans and TWC's this week, and I have noticed that scammers are not being dealt with in a timely manner.

For example, I was scammed by a member who was hacked on Sythe just the other day, but this user had already been reported as a scammer once this week...

Now, had staff already banned this guy, the 2nd scam would have never happened. You can argue and say that I should have checked the section to see if there was a report on him, but the user was hacked and was very trusted on Sythe, so the last thing I figured was a scammer or that he was hacked.

The report a scammer sections needs much more attention than what it is getting, it is way to easy for a scammer or a rouge trusted users to scam quite a few people before staff get a chance to look at the report and make a decision...

If you guys are to busy to check the section every hour or two just to keep up with whats going on then we need some more staff..

 

I am in agreeance with this.
Although matters are dealt with , they could prevent a lot of mishaps with mroe attention.

I agree with this to a certain point, moderators need to be in the Scam report section more than in the Spam section but ohwell, they are volunteering anyway.
Thing is they have their lives and they can't be 24/7 on PC, So who are we to judge them, they keep Sythe clean, but it would be nice if Staff Looked into it more <3.

It is very unfortunate that the second scam happened ad yes; it was preventable, which means something needs changing. I'd support more attention or more mods!

I can understand that our staff members have a life just as well as we do, so if the best they can do is 1-2 reports every 5 hours or so, I believe we need some more staff members, ones that can just look over the reports.

5 hours to make a decision is enough time for a scammer to rip off 3-4 people before getting banned, if not more. That just isn't acceptable

The report posted by johng was missing all sorts of proof. Rsprod answered the report just 16 minutes after it went up, and yet no further proof was provided. It could have very easily been an imposter scam, the report was lacking but it was definitely handled in a timely manner.

Your report, I handled, and I answered it just 9 minutes after you posted it. You were also lacking proof of a scam but there was enough proof to ban him, and the report was settled in a little over an hour.

On average, your reports have been settled in about 2 hours, and 2 of your reports were settled in < 30 minutes. On a whole, most reports are answered within 2 hours of being posted. Scam reports are a high priority for all staff members.

What causes delays/problems is when people post reports without full proof, which is what happened with Danthex. He was reported, yes, but again, there wasn't enough proof in the report to do anything about. Rsprod asked for further proof just 16 minutes after the report went up, and it was just never provided. That's not staff's fault. That report was handled in a very fast manner, it was OP who failed to make his report complete

 

Report a scammer section is fine, Sythe moderators arent sythe employeers ,they dont get paid for answering scam reports 24/7, they do it in their free time and you should be thankful for them for this.

I believe they are working in a timely manner but as fast as possible. In order for someone to receive a twc there has to be proof of the users sneakiness or recent scam attempts. It takes a bit to dig up what the user is recently doing and also look into other reports. Believe me I dont think Video will let a scammer go untouched. A load of moderators are always online if you dont think things are being handles ASAP just pm one of them and let them look into it wile talking to them, it will be just a matter of time till they get to it.

 

Every hour or two? That is simply ridiculous. Take responibility for not getting scammed. Its not our job to hold your hand. Check the section for open reports (theres less than 20 it isn't hard so just do it) and protect yourself.

 

I use EVERY precaution when doing trades with users on Sythe.. The user was hacked, there was nothing in my power I could have done to know this, so "Take responsibility for not getting scammed" was taken.

That has been posted for almost an hour now and not a single reply from staff...

I already addressed in the OP that you could argue that I could check the reports before a trade, and again the user was trusted but hacked, not at my fault. I am not saying it is staffs fault either, just would like to see faster response times..

You may have answered mine fast, but that doesn't happen often..

my accused scammer was not reported for 3 days and he had time to scam another person before he got banned.

My thread showed full indisputable proof and he was not even rejecting it.

I understand mods are busy but still >.<

 

You all realize we are on different time zones, I work 7am-6pm most days, and I believe people also don't get that we don't get paid. It's not required of us to do everything.

People seem to assume only globals will do RaSc, when any mod could.

 

I'm sure its priority, in terms of staff duties, however every 1-2 hours isn't feasible. Work, School etc doesn't allow for a malleable schedule. They are generally done however in good time. Sometimes they may be a backtrack, but sooner rather than later it gets resolved.

Also, a handful of reports lack evidence, or the staff are waiting on the the individual to provide more info/edit the report to follow the stickies. Generally it's due to that reason, as Video said.

 

You also need to take into account that report a scammer threads take quite a bit to do, moderators need to ensure perfect decisions (or they're gonna have a lot of problems).

 

As both Booty and Sellerman said. doing the reports in 2 hours isn't gonna happen. I get on as much as I can but I don't get into the reports due to being on my iphone.

 

Ok I can understand this.

So would it be possible to find maybe 1 or 2 people to add to staff that would only check scam reports? I doubt this would happen but it may keep the reports from getting backed up as long as 10 hours like the one I posted above and help you guys out at the same time.

Honestly, if people read stickies and gave the information required first time around, they'd probably be sorted and that section would be spotless a lot quicker. Like SuF said, if you as a trader don't regularly check RaSc as often as you're saying staff should, then you're as much in the wrong.

Just from the few days I've been involved in handling things like reports, I've seen what amount of effort goes in to some cases. The staff are doing a great job, initial responses are generally fast and they are keen to get things sorted out ASAP. It's just occasionally time zones conflict or something or other stops them being completed as quick as others - there's no major problem with RaSc if you ask me.

 

The report a scammer section on this site gets dealt with a lot more efficiently and better than most e-markets. If you take the time to write a proper scam report with indisputable proof then your report will be dealt with.

I read the RaSc forums every time I get on to check my PMs, a lot of people will post countless useless images, a lot of people will forget things like showing the scammers Skype ID etc, and this things slow the process down.

Pretty much what SuF said, focus on preventing the scam instead of dealing with the aftermath.

 

Remember RaSc threads take a lot more care and effort than spam reports, as you actually have to investigate things, not just do what's right for that situation. I think that for the amount of staff and the time that they put into sythe (due to work/college/etc) they are actually doing really well, so cut them a bit of slack.
