What a actual "Gold Farm" looks like

This has probably been posted here or most of you have seen it probably but if you haven't its incredibly interesting about the life of a MMO "gold farmer".

i hate how the chinese works (not beeing racist)
i've saw a lot of documentaries on the tv. they are working like 18 hours every day, they won't get much money (like 0,10ct per hour), that's nothing, they have a real bad live

e.G. 8 minutes 35 seconds: about 20 ppl are sleeping in one room, not much too say...

the documentaries i saw were about the clothing industry, but i don't think it's better there

that's why i would never buy gold from companies from china, you buy things gathered from ripped of ppl

 

This is a very interesting video I will watch the rest of it when I have time.

As for not buying from them as a way of ending the worker's suffering that might not work, as it will probably lead the company to attempt to lower it's prices to become more competitive and attract customers back, which will lead to them paying their workers even less and so on.

People will go through any lenghts to make money.

 

Working as a gold farmer IS much better than working in a factory. You're not dealing with dangerous chemicals or machinery. They're working in a relatively safe environment with a roof overhead, food provided, and compensation. No, it's obviously not an ideal lifestyle, but for countries like China where the dangerous places or no job at all, you can't say no.

its not their fault their government does not offer welfare

they work very hard and yet gain so little .. i feel like this is slavery

 

Very interesting video its pretty long. Its very sad to see that all they do for like 1$ a day.

Buying gold from players on websites like Sythe and PA probably makes this situation a lot worse..

Anyone can see that Chinese websites charge higher prices than Sythe, but they are most probably trying to lower them further to compete. If the Chinese sites were the monopoly provider of gold they could set their own prices and people would have no choice to pay, and the workers would earn more.

 

on the other hand if they set them too high, people my consider it too much money/gold and just earn it legitly

 

There's no such thing as gold farmers on runescape anymore, gold prices are way too low.

As for the working conditions in China and other parts of the world, it's not that different from the late 1800s in the first world countries. It's a process most countries go through, same for democracy. You can't really force those things, it's something that will improve in time.

 

This may seem cruel to us, but it's a safe job for them, they don't run the risks of getting crushed by machinery or hurting themselves from poor safety equipment, a keyboard and mouse is hardly going to hurt.
