Proposing new Sythe forum structure.

Deacon already proposed this, but maybe his was too minimalistic for you people.

The current forum structure is abhorrent. Sections that don't need to be there are clogging up the forums, etc, etc.

Honestly, it's a disgusting forum structure. We're too small of a forum at the moment to have more sections than forums way larger than us.

So here's the layout I propose:

Rules & Donations - As is

Community - Leave as is.

Runescape Markets:

• Gold Exchange
• Item Exchange
• Accounts (Merge Pure and Skillers with Other Accounts, they can just label it as [PURE] in the title of their posts)
• User Services
• RSPS Market
• Misc. Runescape

Other Game Markets:

• WoW
• LoL
• Diablo
• ROTMG(I guess)
• GW2
• Other(Merge other MMOs and other games)

Other Markets:

• XBL/PS
• Steam
• IRL
• Guides
• Other(Software and Currency go under here, as well as anything else)

Market Tools:

• Market Discussion and Price Checks
• MM
• vouches
• Report a Scammer

Runescape - As is except for:

• Runescape Cheating //SUBSECTION Scar/Simba(One section)

Other Games:

• LoL
• WoW
• Other Games(Drastically reduce the subsections in this, what the actual fuck is going on in there)

Off Topic:

• Gen Disc.(Merge all others as subsections of this)
• SFA
• Music
• Programming(2 Subsections, Web and General)
• Tech
• Videos
• Spam Forum

Guides & Support:

• Guides
• Help & Requests(Sythe.org support as subsection)
• Personal support

Graphics:

• GFX Gallery
• GFX Discussion and tutorials(Merge Tutorials with Discussion)
• GFX Marketplace

Scar/Simba - Removed and Section merged as one section(with no subsections) into Runescape cheating.

Anti-Scam - Removed and Report a Scammer put in Market Tools

Support this completely. Looks perf to me.
In other games there definitely are way to many subsections. Honestly what is going on.

 

Runescape Markets: Sounds great
Other Game Markets: Yes, except I don't much care for that wrath of the mad god or whatever.
Other Markets: Sure why not
Market Tools: Yes, but am I the only one that thinks "Report a scammer" should be in this section as well? It is a form of "Market tool" since you use it to report scammers in the markets. Just my opinion.

I don't much care for any of the other sections to be blunt about it, I hardly even go in them.

However, still supporting this idea because I see no harm in cleaning up a little bit, presentation is everything. Perhaps get it done before the new logo/background is put up so we end up with a whole new looking Sythe when its all said and done.

 

I think this looks like a great restructure - the site currently has too much clutter and your design would help minimise this whilst still making it easy to navigate and use. 100% support.

Agreed, actually, no point of a redirect, when you can just have the actual section there. I've edited the original post.

 

Agree to an extent; definately a good overview but still needs a little tweaking and refining, as is expected though. Personally, I'd go further and abolish some sections completely.

Moreover, you have to take users into consideration, the current layout has been largely used for awhile. It ought to cause a little confusion between some members..

 

Yeah, I didn't want to go all out Hitler, because Deacon did that and was shot down. A lot of these sections are not needed, I tried to cut down where I could.

Also, just because users are used to it, doesn't mean change isn't needed. It might take a couple days(at most) to get used to the proposed changes.

 

Yeah, 100% agree with you there. Just to clarify, more work is definately needed if it were to be accepted as a layout. Obviously that's open to interpretation by other users and mods, etc, but that is a great opening template. Good job buddy.

 

Make this into a subsection of RS2 Cheating tbh. It really has no use for it's own section when it relates.

 

You have LoL and Wow in other games twice. Otherwise it doesn't look half bad.

Also, I would honestly merge digital currency and non virtual together. They've always been mixed and overlapped, so making one "Virtual/Non-Virtual Sales" and "Virtual/Non-Virtual Buying" would be better in terms of confusion and organization. Other than that it's looking decent. No sports and fitness section tho? :'0

 

The first LoL and WoW are for the markets, next are for discussions.

Sports and Fitness section is lacking activity, I've proposed that they be subsections in General Discussion or just abolished(either way is fine).

This would clean up a lot of the front page, it would actually be nice. Tbh why is PokeMMO on the front page and not in the other games where wow/lol etc are?

 

Everything seems good besides the off-topic, I like it as it is right now tbh.

 

xbox discussion should be merged into one section and brought to the front page, the small amounts of clan discussion and pictures would actually bring more traffic to xbox general as well and having those two floating around really aren't necessary

 

I agree to disagre, first off I think sythe is set up at the moment to become a bigger forum. Therefore if we get more people those little and dry sections will become more active soon enough, no use in re-designing the forum now then changing it back whenever the forum get more members.
In addition to your new forum setup some of the downsizing looks great in total contradiction of my first paragraph. Some of it is needed such as the removing the report a scammer link taken out but not all of that section downsizing. I also think the wow discussion should go by the wow market I get so tired of searching for it all the time when I have a question. A lot of the down sizing looks great but its just not needed. Instead of trying to downsize we need to be thinking of ways to attract more member. Front page does need a clean up

OT: I think that the video sub forum should be merged into the Spam Forum. It's basically a spam forum except it focuses around videos and shit. But idk it doesnt really matter to me. The more opportunity for free post count, the better...

 

You've left out the graphics section which is an active forum, if anything SCAR/Simba should be taken down you merged into a section under RS Cheating. The Runescape discussion section could easily be merged into three maybe forum sections that could accommodate all the discussion if you include a subsection or two.

 

I didn't want to edit the Runescape forum, but I've updated the OP to put Scar/Simba under RS Cheating.

I've also updated it with my take on the GFX sections.
