    Hi,

    I'd like to suggest that we make official Sythe.org servers.

    I already know about Operation Biggums, but according to Grave, it wasn't going to be announced or anything, just a small server for off topic people mostly.

    That server could do much better if say we added a section for it, announced it, advertised it on other forums, etc. It would generate traffic to Sythe, which would help every other section. We could also expand to having other game servers. For example, a friend of mine and I have run many successful Habbo retros, and could easily make a Sythe retro.

    None of these are hosted with Sythe, so it shouldn't cause any legal issues. Just a discussion section might be a good idea to make people aware of it.

    We will announce it / make it more official if the developers work on it and make it enjoyable to play.

    So far I've put about 3 days work into it and no one else has committed anything. We have 5 developers; I've helped 3 or 4 of them set up local versions etc. They should be ready to modify and commit code.

    If you want official servers jump on the toes of the devs:
    Grave, Syed, Karl, iJava, SuF.

    With the recent java security issues, someone needs to buy a certificate and sign a client for funscape. At the moment it has big ugly warnings etc. It's unsuitable in its current form for promotion.

    Also, don't wait for orders from head-quarters. You can rent a server and run a game daemon on it for any game you like. Just call it unofficial and we'll put it in a thread for you.

    Sythe, question for you:

    Say we run an "unofficial" Sythe server and people donate to it - do we keep the donations or are we to be forced to donate them to Sythe? IE if I run a Team Fortress 2 server and we make priority joining available to donators.

    If it's your own server I'd assume you can do what everr you want with any donations. It's not official, so why would any of it have to go to Sythe?

    I could see some servers actually catching on, loads of people have valve games. Shame I haven't got my pc running, that'd make a huge difference in speed etc for me to be able to join them, once I get it fixed Ill be interested in helping with them.

    I would do some work on it if I knew what people wanted but apparently that thread only exists in the comm dev team section.
