Call me crazy, but I think MMG is a genius. Only an idiot or a genius with an ulterior motive would fuck RS as badly as he has. I think he wanted to axe RS from day one in favor of focusing on some other game of his, but the Gower brothers put in his contract that he can't shut it down without their permission. Now, he is screwing over RS little by little until it starts netting a loss to keep the servers up. He is murdering RS slowly but surely, and replacing it with god knows what. AoS? Xformers? Only time will tell...

 

It would be quite extraordinary if that was actually true and was his plan, but I do doubt this. I agree that he has changed the game some what for the worse, he probably doesn't want to crush it into the ground (despite the way it looks).

You do realise that the investors get the final say on everything, so the people that run RS are actually behind this, not MMG

 

That's what they want you to think! Would investors really support changes that are killing RS? These people are NOT idiots, they know more about business than the average Joe who notices that subscription is going down. How could these wealthy businessmen just be ignoring the decline in sales? Personally, if I had money in Jagex, I would be pushing for a change back to when RS prospered, not vote to continue with the changes that no one wants.

 

No, that's a fact lol. RS is a business, it's a corporation. Why would MMG as an employee want to ruin the game causing his own termination and redundancy, due to the game dying lol? He doesn't decide the fate of Runescape, as IDB said.

 

i doubt he's trying to ruin the game, And it's not just him involved in the updates. It's all of them.

 

Decline in sales? They're making more money than ever before. Just look at all the people buying 1 year packages, or buying cosmetic outfits/spins.

 

More money yes, but there are quite a few people quitting by the day.

 

I think part of his plan was to force sub-par content down the community's throat. After awhile, the players will come to expect lesser content. When they actually introduce updates that would have been satisfactory in the past, the updates will receive more critical acclaim.

In essence, they are lowering expectations to deceive the players into thinking a mediocre update is a great one.

 

Is it possible? Yes. Do I think that is what is going on? No. There are many reasons why if this were true, it wouldn't make much of a difference. Like it was already discussed in another thread, RS grows in numbers by the day, there are just as many new players joining the RS world as their are quitting, so Runescape is becoming less and less populated with old players that complain all day about updates, to new players that haven't got a clue what Old and Classic RS was all about.

Eventually, the few old timers will get use to these new updates, complaints are going to stop, and Jagex is going to keep on making money..​

This is stupid.

Why would you try to get people *not* to play your game when they are paying good money? They're going to spend their money either way it does not matter which game. If the company was trying to get rid of players on purpose they would likely give their money to games like LoL or whatever else is big.

Lose paying customers so 0-10% of those who you lost money might give you money on another game? Great business model.

 

I find it shocking that people are taking this seriously

 

Why would he do that naah he is trying to change the game it look and bring more new players.. new players would love it but old players hate if because our memories stucked with old rs (old sk00l)....
