Is RuneScape dying?

What's your thoughts? Do you think they'll be able to fix the shit they've turned it into? What do you think ruined it all?

 

Is it dying in the sense that the Jagex will close down the actual live game ?

No probably not for a while yet, they still have a large amount of players that pay and they are a huge company and won't be disappearing anywhere fast just yet.

Is it dying in the sense of community, fun, skill and everything else ?

Yes, it already has. The game is nothing what is used to be, it's a shameful mock of the good old days.

 

I totally agree when you say 'it's a shameful mock of the good old days' They've ruined it... Atleast 50% of them players are all bots.

 

I'd say that the game will still run for quite a while yet, attracting new players and a whole new generation will begin their 'journey' just as I, and thousands of others did around 2004 and before.
But those times are gone, and the community 'sense' that the whole game had has gone, there are many reasons for this which I can't be bothered to go through.
I hate Mod Mark...

 

RS has a long life. They've made TV adverts etc, I reckon the player base will go up, but you never know. I can see a future, especially since EoC was released, the older players will get used to it, tell their friends who quit because of it, and RS may get restored. Wildy removal didn't make that much of a difference overall, it was just the rage quitters at the beginning that came back.

 

In my eye's runescape isn't ever going to die even through big changes like this it will continue to live because they're trying to appeal to a new era of players it's sort of the "WoW" era with the use of abilities etc. I think it's just going through some rough times atm wait 3-5 months from now And it'll be back to what it used to be because the migration of new players would've been complete by then.

No, runescape isn't dying, and it won't for a very long time.

 

I'm slowly getting used to the changes upon returning to the game. It's 10x harder to make money now.

 

For people that play other RPGs such as Rappelz, the game is actually funner now. I always found myself getting bored on Rappz and coming back to runescape because the only skills rappz had were combat attacks similar to the RS "abilities" and I needed more, such as the many skills rs offers. So really, now I dont need any other MMORPG games because runescape has the ideals of the other types of games I play as well as the many skills to keep me entertained.

It is not dying. Infact MORE people quit playing when the wildy was removed. As more people give the EoC a chance, the more they get used to it and get used to mashing abilities, the more people will return to the game and most likely enjoy it even more.

Yes, But I don't see them change everything back to like 2007. Runescape is not dying anymore, for me it already died.

 

I still think it has potential to attract new players. We'll see what happens with the release of HTML5 and if/how that changes the game.

 

Fagex just wants money so they won't close just keep running it with crap updates.

 

Far from it... seeing as they have a constant high amount of players online everyday. Nope.

 

It has been dying for awhile now, but the fact that there's always new players, probably not.

 

Like many others have already said, the game itself is not going to die, not for a while now. Mainly because the amount of fresh players Jagex gets everyday, none of them are familiar or know what the game was like back then, so they aren't worried about it.

 

They are slowly dying but with the experience they have as a company, I am sure they will do something to bring more players in.

 

I think 2013 will be a good year for runescape though

 

To jagex, they don't think that it's dying they are doing these updates to "Help" the game and get more people to play, when a lot of the older more serious players kind of stopped playing now just because it really is a whole new game than what it used to be and imo it's disappointing they didn't leave RS2 on it's own server like they did with rsc....BUT some people also do love the eoc. So it's really opinion based but i do think the game will be dead within the next few years as more than half of the online users per day are bots.

 

They could bring out some mad updates this year though, and player base could shoot up, It's easily possible, They wouldn't make adverts etc everywhere is not.
