How long left ?

As everyone is talking about Runescape is dying, or in fact that it is already dead ...

How long do you think is left of Runescape ? And what do you think will be the downfall ? And how Jagex will go about it.

My opinions are mixed, I would like to see the game stay around for as long as possible - but nothing lasts forever of course.

Discuss with reason.

I was wondering if anybody had any clue as too much Jagex spends on running the entire game, and paying it staff etc ? Would be interesting to know.

 

Jagex has much too much funds and staff to "die". It will go on for many more years, as the money is still rolling in.
Just because several current players don't like the changes don't mean currently incoming/future players won't like them. Especially since they will be unknown to previous features and gameplay, they will see RS for what it is and embrace it with no complaints.
The only way I see a downfall is if there's some huge technological advancement which makes MMO's like this obsolete.

 

RuneScape will be running for at least 10 more years or so, it is dieing slowly but they are also making new adverts on tv/websites.

 

Runescape (the game) will continue to run, however it's community is pretty much already dead.

 

It will not die, just the originals will begin to quit.

People will still bot
People will still sell gold
The community will be a different place though.

 

I do agree with this, which is a real shame to be honest. Does not feel like it used to, which is what I really look for in a game.

 

I just went to runescape and saw that there was 95,000 players playing. I'm assuming those are 95k members.. What is it down from like 160k to 95k? Still well alive

 

Same community is dead lol Not to mention that almost all the online players are botters henche why the community is not so active

 

Years and years, everyone needs to stop hopping on the RuneScape ending bandwagon. The company is recruiting over 25 positions for careers on their website they are not slowing down.

 

Agreed, not anytime soon and if it does decay it will be for corporate reasons rather than communal reasons. Recently, Mod MMG said Runescape has been on an upturn the past 6 years (going on 7).

 

It won't die. Infact im pretty sure that more people quit playing when they took away the wildy than from the EoC update. I may be wrong about this, however, but RS dies, it wont be any time soon, unless they take the wildy away again.

 

I'll give it another 10 years.

As others have stated, the game is still alive and the profit is still there.

May aswell just sell my gp and get off this game not sure.

 

The game died when they did the first graphics update and when they started adding in a bunch of new crap to make the entire game easier..

 

those arent 95k members....more like 10k members and the rest bots

They will not die, there profit is to great so they will continue to take as much money as they can from their players. as you can see they keep adding new armours and pets etc to the salomon store that's because their trying to get people to buy more things that way they get more in-come. Which i clearly don't understand because they own at least 3 other games besides runescape. id have to say mod mark is kinda the problem. he is some of the main reason we have these problems. such as the eoc i think the eoc is completely mod marks fault. all jagex cares about is there money and they keep saying they care about there playing but yet THEY DO NOT SHOW IT. they use to update quest and graphics alot back in 2011 and so on and so forth. But now jagex has took their focus on their money aspect of the game instead of the aspect "what do the players think" have you not noticed how they have been lacking some stuff

1. Barely any new quest. they use to release 1 everyweek back in like 2010
2. they focus all there aspects on Solomon store.
3. the speal of fortune which is completely dumb has no meaning in runescape.
and much much more dumb things jagex has done. Jagex now only cares about the money aspect of things.

 

I can see what you are saying, I hate this monetizing in Runescape, I dont mind memorabilia and stuff like that but this stuff should NEVER be brought into the actual game, it nullifies the core aspect of the game.

However, I think the only reason they are doing this is to fund the updates they are making in the game, but the problem is that these updates are, most of the time, poor.
They need to come out with something that will re-kindle peoples love for this game, and it's difficult to say what that is but they are the ones that are supposed to be thinking of this stuff.

 

Runescape will not die, simply because new generations will discover it and start playing it for the game that it is at the momeny, 10 years after that they will probably miss the 'good old times of EoC' and they will quit too...

but the generation after them will take over...

or should I say the generation bots* after them....

 

They're not slowing down any time soon..I see 10 more years of RS in various forms.
