Most scam reports pending in a while

I've seen worse through the years, but compared to last few months today is where I've seen the most pending.

Many staff enjoying holidays?

This is one of the priorities, before pardons/disputes, before spam reports, before your own business/trades.

 

I agree that scam reports are a high priority, but I think it's unfair to say staff have to prioritize scam reports over their own personal business. Also, scam reports are generally prioritized first by globals and second priority for sectionals--that's one reason why the staff is divided between the two rankings. Global mods have more experience with doing reports and can make more reliable decisions. Sectionals are able to do them at their prerogative, but really sectionals' priorities are spam reports.

 

You said it yourself. A lot of the staff are busy or even inactive due to the holidays. On top of that, there's not even 2 pages currently, you're over-exaggerating this quite a bit.

 

It's basically Christmas. Most staff, even myself would be enjoying themselves amongst family and friends. I'm sure after New Years the activity/scam reports tended to will increase.

 

You have to cut them some slack, it's christmas, some of them won't be using the computer as they will be spending time with their families. 2 pages isn't that bad.

 

It's not like a large amounts of trades are going to be happening over the next few days. People should research more about the user before trading anyhow.

 

There's a pending one awaiting video's response for 7 days now.

And even if there are not going to be A LOT of trades, the small amount there is should be safe. After all this is a market place.

Well, I agree mods need a break and what not but at the end of the day, this forum sees a ton of scams each week and if the reports aren't done, it will lead to them scammers getting away with it until the report is done and in that time they could scam others.

 

we need new measures to stop newcomer/imposter scams...

 

Impostor scams... that's all down to the individuals vigilance. -Ryan and myself also made a Skype warning sticky, tended towards impostors and their methods.

Literally, you can't stop an impostor from impostering. All we can do is warn people, which we do, and hope people read the stickies (If new traders actually bothered to read the stickies, i guarantee you scams would drop dramatically).

Newcomer scams? What are you referring to here? If you mean paypal chargebacks, that's always going to be an issue, and there isn't much we can do to prevent them, other than hoping traders are vigilant.

 

I've done all of them including any ban evader reports.
2 pages really isn't much at all. Like people have said Christmas time is family time. I've just spent literally hours doing all the reports and I could have been doing something a hell of a lot more fun this time of year.

 

In response to the impostor scams:

 

In regards to imposters, there's not much we can do except for try to see if the person acting as an imposter is a Sythe user. I've caught a few myself but most of the time there isn't any matches.

 

I still don't believe that because scam reports are pending, users are going to get scammed. Really it's common practice to do 1 minute background check first or use a MM. In all honesty it's the users fault for not taking simple precautions.

 

I look at the scam reports almost all the time and they are dealt with pretty fast, also like it was mentioned, it's the holidays people have lives.

How is this even relevant? I think you should learn to use the correct punctuation, but that doesn't have any bearing on this discussion.

Now, in my opinion scam reports shouldn't get too piled up, like they were a few months ago before the sweeping promotions. Now with that being said it's the holidays, give em' a break. If half the users who get scammed would read the stickies and newcommer guides they wouldn't get scammed. 90% of the scams are people just being stupid.

OT -- The reports do get cleared, just at a steadier rate, IK if I was staff I wouldn't be super active compared to normal activity (which for the staff team is excellent btw), as I'd want to spend some time with my family/friends.
