Hey kids

Sythe and I have agreed that we want to unban people that haven't yet been unbanned for breaking rules that have now had their sanctions altered. This includes people who are banned for pin sales, advertising (yep even ad bots) and permed for self vouching.

We've got a list of almost 3,000 users who could potentially be unbanned, but I'd like you guys to give us a hand with letting us know who on the following list should NOT be unbanned:

Just a quick note: We're aware some of the users on that list have been banned for scamming - those people will be removed from the list, so don't worry about that. Sythe just ran a quick SQL query on those that had been banned for advertising, self vouching and pin sales.

ps: If you can think of any other rule changes which people would have been banned for in the past but would not be banned for now, post them here. I was working off the top of my head and I'm stupidly forgetful.

 

That's one heck of a list to go through.

Well I just skimmed through and it seems like the 4 main reasons for the bans are:

-Self Vouchers < Gaining fake trust to potentially scam.
-Scamming (already mentioned in OP)
-Ban Evaders < Former scammers/advertisers and would most likely do it again.
-Advertising < Not that big of an issue unless it's a Java Drive-By.

Is there a reason to why any of the users with these offences should even be considered to be unbanned? Curious.
I personally would only consider to unban accounts that were banned for advertising. Only if they were active accounts. Not the accounts that were made purely for advertising.

Good to see those changes. Also got to know that my friend Betwetter got banned, I can vouch for this guy. He forgot to take a picture of a trade on RuneScape that did not even happened, not sure how he got banned though.

So missunderstandings like this one should be resolved, it is a shame when such respected users get banned for no reason. He was a 300$ donator, and he is a very trusted person. Nonetheless, good job.

20 lines removed including "self requested/self-requested"
12 lines removed including "virus"
42 lines removed including "mass advertising"
2 lines removed for password cracking.
2 lines removed for charging back.
11 lines removed including "phish"
1 line removed including "blatant advertisement"

He only had a few vouches, including one from KeroKeroCola. He self vouched himself for a quest (Death Plateau) to get some trust, which is wrong, but I think he only did it without malice, and he was a legit trader from what I can see.

 

I don't think hack/hacker/hacking should be removed, but the users should be reviewed.

What about the ban evading ones? Or even have an active account at the moment.

This should be considered again for users who have not scammed. We need a way to rejuvenate the community.
