Shocking, it makes you wonder what goes through people's heads when they do shit like that. There was a very similar incident in 1996 near where I currently live, too. Most of the casualties/deaths were 5 year old children. There are some crazy people in the world indeed.

Why innocent children? Why? Sigh.. What a sick, deranged world we live in today. Can't see it getting any better.

Prayers and condolences to the victims of this tragedy. :'(

Im seriously devastated at the news here, its up to 29 confirmed dead. This one has hit me hard, i cant fathom his reasoning for killing all those kids .. it seriously almost brings tears to my eyes. I had to turn off my TV because of this bullshit. The kids are oddly unphased too .. they interviewed several of them and none of them are even crying... they are speaking matter of factly about what happened and its just bizarre, is it the world we live in that has desensitized these youth to this point or is it just naivety.. This whole thing is out of my fucking league mentally.

    Sidenote
Im dropping a grand on guns this weekend at a gunshow, they will likely be attempting some new gun control laws soon with all these damned nut jobs going crazy lately (2nd one this WEEK.) Each time some asshole loses it and does something like this gun prices go up and shit is harder to obtain for hunters and sportsmen like myself, i mean i go to the range and occasionally dove hunt and yet responsible gunowners like myself are demonized because of assholes like this.

I just think all these constant horrific stories we keep hearing regarding gun owners going rogue and mass killing innocent people with no real motive, just completely emphasise gun control, really isnt under control.

I know plenty of people will argue and say its just a small minority who ruin it for the genuine responsible gun owners, but how many lives are lost in the progress so normal gun owners can have their fun?

Are all these deaths of children and adults really worth it? Just makes me think when will it be enough, when its 500/year, 5,000/year, 50,000/year? It's quite evident to me, people can simply not be trusted with such destructive weaponry, unless you have a real, genuine reason to own the guns, e.g. military/police/FBI personnel etc.

Or can prove you live in a surrounding where your at threat of invasion and need it for protection, then you DONT need a gun, arguing "but im an american and shooting stuff is fun", is not a good enough reason in my opinion to let all these killings of innocent people continue from gun owners gone wild.

This whole thing is sad, and highly uncalled for. What makes it even worse is shooting and killing little 5-8 year olds. Highly uncalled for. How can anyone have the mindset to do this?

The kids are most likely in shock, or not fully understanding what is going on. Remember, these kids are 5-8 years old.

Doesn't even shock me anymore, this shit's becoming a yearly occurrence in America and still fuck all is going to be done about lax gun control. And it's far too late to say shit we made a mistake all those years back everyone turn in your guns please because less than half that shitty country will actually do it.

The U.S. Government is the currently the longest standing Government in the world. The Constitution was ratified, and the second Amendment is the Right to Bear Arms. While guns may become harder to own, it's very like to never be removed from the Bill of Rights.

Anyway, as for everyone going on about gun control, gun's don't kill people, people kill people. Quite frankly, removing guns won't stop the tragedies from happening, instead it'll change the nature of them. For instance, this morning 20 kids in a Chinese school were also slashed/stabbed.

I'm all for background checks and the whole 9 yards when trying to own a gun, but removing them would be pointless (nor would it go over well.)

Obama gave a speech regarding the situation and he began crying during the speech. Serious tragedy, the situation is horrible, the fact that it's a fucking elementary school is insane.

@Everyone wondering why the children didn't seem upset

You have to remember that they are just children, and they don't quite have a grasp on things like we do. They haven't fully developed emotionally, and so it may take them a while to truly understand what happened. Not to mention the shock they must be in.

This is sickening, and it's really sad to see how often this is happening now. I saw it on the news before they even had any confirmed deaths, and hoped for the best, but the body count just seems to be rising.

Those of you who are vying for more gun control: learn the laws.

You can't own a handgun until you are 21 years of age, and then you have to undergo background checks and the whole nine yards to get one. The man illegally obtained the two handguns, so where's your gun control now?

How about instead of bitching for more gun control laws, people start being realistic about the issue and start bitching for actual enforcement. Bad guys will always be able to get guns. Why can't the teachers arm themselves to defend their helpless classrooms? You'll never be able to stop a bad guy from getting a gun, much less obey the "firearm free zone" signs on public schools, but you sure as hell can stop him from shooting more people given the right equipment to do so. If that kindergarten teacher had a gun safely locked in his or her desk with a federally-approved safe and lock code, I'm sure the body count would be nearly zero. More laws would do nothing to have prevented this man from illegally obtaining a handgun; less laws and more common sense would have helped dozens of lives be spared.

Nonexistent. Because you can find guns about as easy as Mountain Dew in the states. You don't hear about this shit happening in England where possession of a firearm is illegal, teachers are unarmed yet you can still find a gun if you wanted to.

You're right though, you literally only have to run 9 yards to get a gun in that hellhole.

Its really sad and honestly I was wondering the same thing as to why the teachers had no gun. Is it illegal for a teacher/ principal to have a fire arm at school?

I know over here where I live they've recently put security guards in all schools and there's frequent police presence but its against the law to have a firearm outside your home and without a FAC over here. Fire arm control does have an effect but like you said it is very miniscule to those who have the intention of doing something like this. Whether illegal or not that guy would have been able to get a firearm, maybe it would have cost him a few dollars more but he still would have been able to get it.
