How butt hurt are you that we didn't upgrade to Vbulletin 4?

But, I like the current set up.

Where's the: "Disappointed that a forum software upgrade was announced almost a year ago, and it still hasn't been updated." option?

 

I am of the opinion to change to IPB. I have ran forums in both IPB and in vBulletin and I've always felt IPB has been more powerful.

 

I'm sure there were plenty of complications for such an ancient version of vB with all these custom mods. You need to live in the present and not dwell on the past.

No problem, some people like Syed seem to get stuck in the past and don't think about why everything turns out the way it does. I'd suggest staying away from people like him.

 

I voted a little butt hurt. I'm not really worried though honestly. As long as it looks alright and you guys are still able to code for it, that's all that really matters.

 

The current setup is great!
Don't change what doesn't need to be changed.

 

IPB has been known for allowing unscrupulous users to obtain the databases especially through their recommended addons.

Secondly modified VB3 seems quite fine especially since if you really give it more than a half assed look through you can do pretty much what you want with it on your own.

 

You still won't have to modify it as much as we had to modify VB3.

 

I like things as it is, if it isn't broke no need to fix it as they say.

 

It's not broken as it is to general population's eye, so don't fix it. Leave it how it is. VB4 is shit anyway so if you do upgrade regardless anything but that bollocks. ANYTHING.

 

I'd go with vB... even though I don't like the admin interface, I still believe it is the best. There are also a lot of mods, if you're into that, a lot of support and it is the most popular I believe.

I see your point about the themes, though. I know I certainly wouldn't want to make one myself... yeow.

Edit: and by support I mean constant redirection to vbulletin.org =]. Just had to make that joke.

I'm only a very little butt hurt because of the fact that I thought we'd be going to vb4 a while back and it didn't happen.
But I'm also ok with the current set up. It's the people who don't have a clue what they're doing with code, that want vb4 and haven't looked at the pros or cons.

Although I'd like to see something new and different, I really don't care if it's moved to vb4 or not, as the the current set up works.

 

I'm glad we've kept this setup, however all suggestions that were 'vb4'ed' need to be brought back up, as that excuse hasn't been played.

What we're running now is doing fine, especially with the amount of progress Richard and Matthew have made with the servers and such in the last few weeks (i.e. loading times have gone dowm).

vB4 looks quite buggy, and there's a lot of people complaining about it.

What exactly is going to come with a new version of vB on here? Like what new features or looks are we going to see when the upgrade is finished?

vB5 is in beta right now, although I've heard it looks terrible, plus it's only in beta

I say either take a deep breath and just go to vB4. If that doesn't work out or the decision is made to never go there, what about the modded vB4 called Xenforo? I don't know a whole lot on forum software I'm afraid.

If after all that, and you just decided to stick with what we have here. I wouldn't be that bothered. Although I think everyone would like to see an upgrade eventually on here.
