    Why is Runescape losing players?

The MMORPG scene as a whole is in decline. Also the fact that PlanetSide 2 was released, which is predicted to be on of the most successful F2P MMORPG's; and unlike Runescape, it draws on the fundemnentals of communication between everyone for it to be succesful. Runescape used to be like that, unfortunately, not anymore.

Other games such as League of Legends, Diablo etc are also drawing in players.

Refer to this (http://majorleagueoflegends.s3.amazonaws.com/lol_infographic.png) for LoL statistics, the worlds most popular game, with the highest amount of users/activer users/registered users, beating all previous game records.
Runescape requires time and effort to succeed in, even with bots, you can't master the game over a few weeks; where as these other games (LoL/Dota 2 in example), don't require months-years on end to be successful - it's all down to your capability and enjoyment of the game. Also, unlike Runescape, improving skill-wise in these said games is fun, and enjoyable, opposed to Runescape grinding of certain needed skills/items.

TL;DR, other games are more appealing than Runescape.

    Why is Runescape losing players?

To be totally honest in my opinion Runescape used to be good because apart from other games it was original and kept its own sytle nice and simple. When runnescape updated from classic to original what it once was it was a good update because it kept classic as a secondhand game play, i believe once there started to be a talk and a release of a trial for the new EOC it started to decline also jagex was making it very easy with all the new weekend x2 weekends and more exp made it even easier for members to level up and reach max with i think brought great frusteration to those old members who worked hard and now there work is over shadowed by other members who got x10 exp and what took them 5-6 years took other members 3-4 days, also the releasing of bots also slowed down the proggy of runescape it might have made more users try runescape but in the long run damaged the game as a whole. Now with the new eoc out and no second hand to go back to the formal runescape i can see the down fall there making it like other MMorpg games with the spec bar and all Diablo and WOw both have that but its just a diffrent name, runescape would have been better off as it was without the eoc just made all members hard work go to waste in my opinion. Jagex is going to be bit in the ass with this.

Reason is because Jagex doesn't give two fucks about their players and the game got boring after about 7-8 years of playing it.

Well there is only one reason why I don't play anymore. And this is because the EOC changes the whole game radically. Honestly I think they should have waited for RS3, or simply just have used this system in their next game, totally non-related to rs. Honestly I don't see the difference in 99str and 1 str, maybe that takes time, but I don't want to re-learn a game which I believed I already mastered. Or they should have eased into this, instead of doing one big update, they should have first added a bar, then moves for melee then range then mage, this way we could take the changes slowly, kind of how they did before with the "super weapons", they didn't add godswords, cannons, dark bows, polypores and spirit shields all at the same time, no. It might be unbalanced for a little while, but that's how you keep your players playing the game without being overwhelmed.

Number1 Boss, a popular youtuber, made an excellent video on this topic recently and analysed alexa stats etc.. Worth checking out.
