SRR - Self Vouching Punishment

Revision of the Self Vouching Punishment.

Please post reasoning.


Proposal for change:

Self/Fake Vouches - 6 Month UNAPPEABLE TWC, 3 month ban. However, if the S/F Vouches are over 2 years old, it goes to a 1 month ban.

 

I think a stature of limitations for this is necessary as well.
There have been several cases of years passing before one or two fake vouches are found, and by then they are often irrelevant. I say if a year has passed since the fake/self vouch, it must be removed, but no further punishment should be handed out unless it's a repeat offense

 

I think any amount of fake vouches should be punishable, because 1 is just as bad as 6 because you are lying to make yourself more trusted. That being said, I agree with Noam. There should be a statute of limitations of I would say 1 or so years. I also think TWCs are a joke, people will just lie to get around them and most newcomers aren't going to know to PM a global to get the TWC reason and will just believe what they're told.

 

Off-Topic; I got a 3-month for fake vouching, glad I didn't get a TWC.
But yeah, I was just new and didn't really knew what I was doing at the time ;/
Not everyone who is fake vouching is bad, or a scammer :3

I voted for the current rule, because it doesn't matter how much fake vouches you have made.
You shouldn't look at the quantity but at the broken rule(s).
For example; someone who scams 10M gets the same ban as for someone who scams 10B.
It wouldn't be fair for someone who fake vouched 4 times to get banned for 6 Months when someone with 3 gets banned for 3 Months.
Hope you guys see what I mean to say.

Thats unfortunate but what you did was wrong and you deserved a longer than 3 month ban and ABSOLUTELY a twc. MOST the time people who self vouch do so to build "cred" before scamming and a twc would be very fitting in preventing these users from scamming in the future. You might be an exception but the great majority of fake vouchers arent and we couldnt/shouldnt be altering rules and ideas on in favor of the minority. I dont buy the "i didnt know what i was doing" type of explantation, thats what everyone says, no offense.

Needless to say i voted for the updated rule, would love to see this implemented. Sythe.org has been far too lenient on people for this sort of thing just for them to go on and scam, the twc would be a must.

I'd rather give the staff more latitude in punishments depending on whether or not the activities were malicious. Nate's situation was obviously not since he didn't use it to scam. Then stupid noobs who do it just to try to gain trust so they can be legit can be let off while those who are obviously trying to scam can be removed.

I voted for the current rules but I believe a mandatory TWC should be placed no matter what the amount of fake vouches was accompanied by a lowered ban such as 45 days instead of the current 90 days.

 

Self/Fake Vouches - 3 Month TWC after 3 month ban (Can be appealed later). If the vouches are over 2 years old and user came forward, no ban. Else, 1 month ban and if the user isn't "trusted" now, TWC.

I can understand that some clowns forget that they self-vouced themselves back in the day, but that's still no excuse. DO the crime, DO the time. No if/ands/buts. And by that I mean bans/TwCs would be in order for essentially every offense.

 

Is the TwC completely removed, or will one be able to appeal the TwC after said six months ?

 

The current one is less harsh than this, they get no TWC.
