% of Donations

To protect the longevity of Sythe, I feel something needs to be done. It's clear that Runescape is not drawing in as many users as it used to, and without advertising, Sythe as a once famous Black Market site, is falling wayward.

I was wondering, if Sythe himself would for a select period of time, put forth 10% of all Donations to an advetisment pot. This pot can be used by the Admins/Globals, whomever Sythe (Richard) see's fit, in using the funds to promote Sythe. Whether it be through paid competitions, general advertising, or other uses; I feel it would allow for more opportunities, in aiding the site to grow.

What do you guys think?

Edit: Doesn't have to be 10%, can even be 1%, whatever amount is deemed appropriate.

 

Well, I have an approx. amount of monthly donations (Because I receive 50%+ of third party donations) and I think 5-15% wouldn't hurt servers' money.

Now on the other hand this leaves room to corruption and sudden disappearance of money, if you know what I mean.

I was talking to Gov about making trades safer on the site the other day, that's what we should focus on. PA is a success simply because the chances of "vading"/fraud/scam a lessen with their system.

 

RS isn't over, yes you are right. But long gone are the days when RS was in it's prime and people were actively looking for Runescape Black Markets. We need to look for members... that's what I think, anyway.

I'm not familiar on Sythes history with paid advertising, so if it hasn't been successful in the past, I see your point.

Have you tried acquiring banner spots on other sites through a mutual agreement? I.E, having their banner advertised here, and Sythe's there?

Sites such as RS2006, SoulSplit, Near Reality, among others.

 

Unfortunately the blackmarket scene in general with games has been decreasing greatly.

 

I would like to disagree with that. I'd say it has rather moved off forums.

Nowadays every trusted trader has a website, and pretty much, chinese and these sellers use these type of forums as their bitch just to advertise.

As a trader who's been MMing for long time, I've seen decreased trades because of that, people go to website and go first.

 

Honestly the same sites have been around for years, the individual services on forums were obviously the first to go for most games.
And I'm not just talking about ruenscap.

Worded it wrong, yea, compulsory wasn't a good idea.

An Admin, or a news post by you should do the trick however, asking those individuals with gold sites to advertise Sythe on it, linking to their own gold selling/buying/whatever thread.

 

Many small websites that users have made already link to sythe.org anyway. But I guess you'd need to work out some way of calculating how to pay those sites for each click, but you'd also need to make sure they're not just auto-clicking it the money. Something like this is pretty easy to code and wouldn't make the site noticeably slower.

EDIT: Or I guess you might just want to pay each site a flat rate based on how much activity they have?

 

Paid advertising is NOT the only option. In fact it is far from the only option as I have said multiple times over.

Let me make an example:

http://www.blackhatworld.com/ (not hacks don't get upset gais)

0 advertising, 0 marketing, yet still a massive forum.

Another example: my site.

I have spent 0 on advertising, yet I am still getting hundreds of unique users every day and thousands of page views. There are tons of ways to market and advertise without paying.

 

So... will there be any news post made on asking gold sellers/buyers with their own websites to advertise a sythe.org banner?

 

I think this would be an AMAZING idea sythe.

This would give people an insentive to get people to join the sythe, so they could get a "Fun rank" [Persay] and would be appealing to everyone on the forums.

Not that the rank would show trust or anything, it's just a little something to show who's getting the most members to join to help the community i guess.

BUT

How would that stop people from doing something with there IP and just mass making account somehow?
