Alternate solution to the above poster's 'problem'

Example:
Actively participate in 3 events to earn the rank for the rank for two weeks.
or
Actively participate in 4 events to earn the rank for the remainder of the month.

The colored text just means the admins can determine what these values should be.

 

In this case, we might as well set something up for a permanent rank.

That's just an idea. I can pitch out more details and other ideas. This would help with people using the rank against newcomers, and it wouldn't be giving out too many ranks as it would require dedication, and being active to know when events will be on and such.

 

I don't agree with this one.
Will provoke bullshit. People who care about the subject and want to do it purely to volunteer are much more likely to do it well than someone looking for a rank. I know he community needs more people around, but I think this rank will cause too many problems and non sincere people.

 

He's doing it because he wants more participants. This raid + other events is what we need to keep a community going/growing.

 

Shouldn't be partyhats though, those have never been given apart from really high ranks.

(Admin, HOMM, high donators, highly trusted/ respected, prince yobard) I just don't see blue partyhats fitting in here at all.

What about a clip board rank? and for each even you attend you get a check mark on top like:

Clipboard

or even a tally. I don't know if 2 lines of text are able to be implemented though.
or even a progression process for event such as the middle image changes with each event you attend.

 

Why don't you just give them a signature, the idea of a rank is still not sensible IMHO. Ranks have been given out too much recently, they should all be removed and only ones kept should be Staff/OMM/HighlyTrusted/Respected.

This is honestly good, and should work just as fine.

 

I agree that the rank giving out is stupid. But a couple things.

1. Ridding all fun ranks is stupid. Maybe not stupid, because sure, they have nothing extra, but people still like to have unique things.

2. The point of this is to give people an incentive to participate, and to have the community have some fun. It's not like they're giving you mod for a week or anything, but people want to feel unique, and have something to show.

I at first said it was stupid, and would just bring in rank-whores. Really though, it would be a nice way to keep the community going and running, as long as we get a process going through.

By "we" I mean The staff/CDT, whoever plans on running these community projects.

I'm curious as well, the title itself boosts self-confidence and gives the user a bit of charisma. Members could use a catalyst to promote their activity on the forums.

 

sounds like a great idea. Although i dont play runescape or even know what game you were talking about in the OP. maybe we should get some more xbox community activities going.(even though i know its not big here on sythe)

 

If everyone has the option to gain access to the rank it will defeat the purpose of the whole "It's a special rank" sort of argument.

I know Quatakai held a FIFA 12 Xbox tourney once, it was successful. If you pick a big game, it can be done.

 

With mini-ranks, this has now been taken care of.
