    Typing Speeds (WPM)

Just wondering if some of the sythe users are real fast typists.
I usually go on typeracer.com to see how my typing speed is.

    Today I just got 125 WPM :)
I wish I took a prt-screen but I accidently closed the tab when I told my friend -.- on FB.

    What's your typing speed?

Edit: Just got 140 WPM when I gave it another try :).

    What website?

Also, in order to be "certified", the test you do is actually about 5-15 minutes long. You have to type at that speed (with very few errors) continuously.

Unfortunately the filter at the library refuses to allow this site. Anyway, if that's an accurate test with a reasonable time duration you have lightning fast fingers my friend.

I've been tested through my employer (We where bored) with a 7 minute essay-copy-over, and I Can type at ~120WPM, while keeping a conversation.

I've always been a pretty decent typer. Helped a lot when writing papers, since it's much faster for me to type than write.

I forgot to take a picture, so I'll probably try it again later. I can't type nearly as fast on a laptop.

    on 10fastfingers.com I've gotten about 140 WPM.

I think if I were to be timed for 5-15 minutes I could get a nice 120ish avg WPM.

I don't believe these are accurate. Reasoning? Well, if you're typing words that are being thrown at you on a screen it's not your typing speed that's also taken, it's your thinking speed, which makes a huge difference. If you know what you want to type, you're going to be a lot faster than if you have to process the word also. It's things like that which makes these tests unreliable. It's not like they're incredibly valid anyway, they probably give some people easier words ran others, as I doubt they're produced well enough to have certain word brackets where they have a certain amount with x amount of letters, x amount of syllables etc. Typical experiment under controlled conditions, they're high in control, but very low in ecological validity (how it's applied to a real life situation/everyday use)

I had to take similar tests every Friday in a computer class, and we did nothing but practice typing all week. I did 180 WPM as an average over 5 minutes.

I use typeracer.com it's where you can race against typers and practice typing after you get 100 WPM they ask you to do a test which is a paragraph captcha and thats how i passed and got 140 WPM. I've done some of the tests above and I manage to get around 120-130 WPM. For consistency, like If I'm typing an essay I average 110 WPM and i get it done usually in 5-10 minutes

I'm around 110m WPM when typing something from head, I don't rely upon my 140WPM results from tests for the reasons that other people mentioned. I did a test once where they alternated caps in a word which is just pointless - it is not a test of typing WORDS but a test of typing CHARACTERS.
