    Professionalism when you're dealing with someone that you want to buy/sell to. Whatever it may be.

    I understand we are all here gamers, but it seems like, to me, if someones grammar looks like they're typing with their ear lobe, I won't trade with them. Not to mention I just can't stand seeing \/\/0rdzzz l13k d1z.

    I just personally prefer being grammatically correct and deal with customers with professionalism. I just like it that way and it doesn't make me look stupid and lazy. People should type properly when conducting business.

    It's definitely a plus, but I won't turn someone down for how they talk if they're willing to go first or if I think I can trust them. It seems like most scammers I've dealt with usually act and talk very unprofessionally anyways. It's pretty shocking how many people have such bad grammar though. I realize a lot of people are young, but you still learn grammar almost daily in school and you should know the basics at a pretty early age. I was always pretty bad at English when I was in school because I hated writing papers, but I was still good at grammar because I've always thought it was important. Writing properly should just be given. It's hard to take someone seriously who has terrible grammar. I can't believe the amount of people who don't know the difference between your and you're. It's ridiculously simple and you learn it in like 1st grade.

    you are = you're

    I agree with Dimethyl, but I'm more so interested in their vouches, position on the forums, etc. If those qualities aren't met in my book then they're out the door as far as an account trade goes. For me it's more so the vibe I receive from the person than their grammar but I would be lying if I said that grammar doesn't play a certain role in the mix.

    I usually don't trade with people who have appalling grammar and spelling, just because these are the types of people I've been burned trading with before. There is such a thing as trying to act too professional though. Friendly and professional should be how anyone trying to sell something should strive to be.

    You're running a business, whoever is selling to a buyer should be as professional and courteous as possible. The buyer, however, can effectively act however they want as long as the seller is willing to trust them.

    It's a big aspect when you're trading with someone because I believe it can tell you how a person is. It might seem like i'm jumping to conclusions but 9/10 times how someone communicates with you will reflect there Business with you.

    ^ This (quite funny that there's a random capitalisation of business and uses there instead of their, considering what the post says lol). I just don't trust them if they make no effort to spell correctly. Unless of course they have a huge amount of vouches, but from what I've seen on here, the vouches and grammar seem to go hand-in-hand.

    I try and use proper grammar no matter who I'm speaking with (unless it's sf). It doesn't really bother me if the person I'm dealing with has bad grammar or not, especially since I know there are a lot of users on sythe who's first language isn't english

    Professionalism is very important both with businesses in real life and on the internet. It establishes a sense of trust in itself that the business knows how to handle itself in whatever jobs they perform.

    As for going first to them or what-not I've never been in that situation however with my friends I don't care if they use poor grammar due to the informal environment.

    1. Hello, I see that you have x amount of vouches. That means that I am more trusted than you, so you are going first.
    2. You are not my first client. I have dealt with many clients in the past and I am no neophyte in this field. You are going first.

    actually, maybe it's that people telling me to go first with bullshit reasons that rustle my jimmies the most :p

    I try to be casually professional, like not with all the sir crap, but still grammatically correct, with correct spelling also. I like to use pal and mate more than sir, it should make the customer feel more comfortable.

    As long as you and the other trader don't get in a misunderstanding about something during the trade, I don't think it matters. I definitely prefer proper grammar, though.

    I generally act professional, a little like I'm required to for my real life job. Honestly the first impression is everything when it comes to a potential sale and if you have correct grammar and sound like you know what you're talking about, it helps the customer believe that you are trusted and they feel more comfortable proceeding with the trade.

    How important is...

    I believe that proper grammar on the internet, especially when trading, is extremely important. If I'm contacted for a gold trade and their grammar and spelling is absolutely atrocious (which shouldn't happen, especially if you're using a browser like Chrome, which has built-in spellcheck), I have been known to either A) tell them I'm out of stock, or B) ignore them. Honestly, we learn grammar and English every single day in school, anyone who doesn't have at least moderately acceptable grammar (e.g. you can easily understand their sentences and they use proper punctuation, commas, apostrophes, etc) by 9th grade is honestly just lazy unless they have some kind of psychological condition that makes it difficult. There, Their, and They're should all be very very easy to keep track of to use the proper one.

    Their = possessive
    They're = They are (apostrophes act as a replacement for parts of words in these situations. The ' replaces the 'a' in are. Same with ' replacing 'no' in Can not, to create Can't. The same concept applies everywhere and is VERY easy to remember)
    There = Here, there, where, easy.

    The same goes for the two different Yours (Your, and You're)

    If you are competent enough to understand the basic concept of what apostrophes do, then you should never use the wrong version of you're.

    Your = possessive
    You're = You are. Same applies as They're. The apostrophe is replacing the 'a' in are.

    I've found that most of the scammers I've dealt with use horrible, horrible grammar and spelling. It confounds the fuck out of me trying to understand why this is so common among scammers. Is it because they are so young that they lack the morals and maturity to follow an honest, legitimate path, and at that age their English skills are just fucking terrible? Or is it because these scammers lack the intelligence to write properly, or even gain money legitimately, and so they resort to scamming? Honestly, I just cannot understand at all how people older than 14, who learned English as a first language, can not be completely embarrassed as fuck when people read their terrible posts or messages.

    What really pisses me off the most is when there are people who say they know the proper spellings/grammar, but because it is the internet they don't use it because "it doesn't matter." This logic is so fucking flawed that it makes me furious when people use it as an excuse. According to that logic, while they are typing, they DO know the correct forms or spellings, but they CHOOSE to use the wrong ones. This means that they are PURPOSEFULLY using the wrong forms instead of the proper forms, which would take the same amount of effort and time as doing it properly the first time. It's like, if I know the proper way, and I'm in the midst of typing... why would I PURPOSEFULLY use the wrong words or grammar when it would take me exactly the same amount of effort to do it properly. It just makes no fucking sense.

    Sorry for the excessive language, I just get so frustrated with people on this kind of topic :p
