diaFireZ . and i said maybe a proposed name change would be in order but regulation of an unofficial chat channed is pretty overboard . and x399 i do occasionally to talk to certain people, not under nodnarbusn most the time but thats what makes irc fun .

If we didn't refer to it as Sythe IRC anymore at all and allowed banned members, you still wouldn't allow advertising, right?

Why? They're banned from the site, they should still be allowed in a community somewhat separate from the site. I was banned and was in this IRC for months, and I got to know a lot of people and they got to know me, and I believe that's the reason I got unbanned, simply because the libel Finn spewed when talking about me didn't hold up when they got to know me. Discussing hacking and scamming Sythe members, will obviously not be allowed in the IRC, just as it's not allowed now.

 

I support people being banned from a channel with this sites name on it. But banning people from a server with one channel on it relating to the site is madness.

• Remove redirects from sythe-irc.org
• Remove server bans directly relating to Sythe.org
• Ban people from the #Sythe channel if they are banned here
• Everyone wins

The exact same thing happened to sytheirc and ********* because neither party was willing to make any leeway. So please, for the sake of the users on both sides, help us make something work.

EDIT: Right, the other server is still censored. So only some people will know what I'm talking about.

 

Just change the name guys, shit. Call it "The IRC" or some shit. It's not that hard.



Also, it's super easy to evade IRC bans..

Richard, The network we're on is called Chatlair, its Cookiezzz's (a member here) network. He purchased the domain sythe-irc.org for a webclient which only points to the #sythe channel. Therefore honestly, It would be unfair to say that it was indeed a network JUST for sythe. If we keep everyone channel banned (which every staff member currently using the IRC can do, even some who are not staff) which will not be removed until there ban has passed, will that be fine? Ban evaders from the channel ban will be network banned for the remaining time.

Only issue is that myself, n4n0 and Verts would have to make sure these people are network banned, since we're the only network staff, so I think it'd be better to channel ban rather than network.

 

Personally, I don't see the reasoning behind making the IRC restrictive, and making all Sythe bans follow over.

Allowing all members (exlcuding hackers/actual threats to Sythe.org) benefits this site directly. If you look at google trends, and the activity of Sythe.org, it's about to hit an all time-low. Having the IRC open for all users, regardless of their Sythe status directly helps this site grow. Banned members may find the motivation to pardon/attempt to rectify their mistakes, simply by talking to people within the IRC, and being part of a community. Having that community feel greatly increases ones commitment to a site.

Okay cool, let's leave it as that. I don't want it to be seen as a place where people go hack/scam anyway. Then again, I'm not affiliated with this IRC at all, so I'm in no place to say anything. Thanks for the reply to my concept anyway.

 

It's only ever referred to as SytheIRC with unofficial in front of it.

The official network is called Chatlair, CLNet for short, and the servers are all x.x.chatlair.net

But, thanks for compromising.

 

ive always supported excluding banned members from sythe irc. once they are banned they really have no reason to be there anyway, that's what i say to those bitchfucks anyway
