hahahahah this video is amazing. the song is so fucking catchy though, i pulled into a football game parking lot yesterday and the car next to me was just parked there with 15 people going ham to this song.

 

This song gets me going. Whenever I heard it I legitimately want to start dancing it's great.

 

Honestly, I could listen to this song 100 times in a row and not get sick of it. I ever know how to do the horseback riding dance .

 

I love how I'm probably the only active member on Sythe who actually understands the lyrics. lol

Notes:
1. Oppa is the word used by Korean women when calling men of older age.
SBut if the age gap is too big, (this is arbitrary,) we use the general term ajussi (prnounced ah-juh-she.) that's not important right now, so just remember what Oppa means
2. Oppa'n means Oppa Is. Again, just remember this fact; I'm not going to teach you all Korean . Thus, Psy (the artist) means that he is of Gangnam style when he says Oppa'n Gangnam Style
3. People rarely refer to themselves in third person, such as Oppa'n Gangnam Style. Psy is reminding us, the audience that he is an Oppa. (most likely an ajussi, but let the guy be.) He is also in some part insisting that even we guys call him Oppa as a joke, which contributes t the comedic nature of the music video.

As you have noticed, the lyrics are pretty silly and so is the music video, if you haven't watched it yet.

My interpretation is that when Psy said that he is of Gangnam fashion, he was joking around with the term Gangnam Style, and may have been referring to the people who think that they're cool because they live in that certain fashion, while the people who live in Gangnam don't.

I live in Gangnam (no, really.) and I sure don't go screaming at women's asses, thrust my pelvis with a guy between my spread legs in elevators, lay down beach chairs in playgrounds, and I certainly don't go around doing the horse dance, either.

I guess that if this IS the message of the song, it also indirectly makes fun of those idiots going around saying that they don't need school or good grades because all the swag they have, or people making stupid mistakes because YOLO. If you have the Gangnam Style in you, you are invincible.

Forget about swag and YOLO,
It's all about Gangnam Style now.
