    Setting up an IRC Channel

Hey, I'm looking to set-up an IRC channel with an IRC Bot/bouncer. From my understanding, even with the bouncer the bot will only be functional while my computer is turned on?

If I wanted to have the IRC bot running at all times how would I go about doing this? Do I need to pay for some sort of IRC hosting service?

Thanks in advanced to whoever clears this up for me :)

You could perhaps rent VPS to run it on or have someone else do it for you who might have some free space left on VPS?

Depends on what language the bot is coded in, I'm assuming it's scripted in mSL(mirc scripting language) simply because it's simpler and is an easier language to learn/use compared to it's alternatives, Java, Python and TCL scripts.

Now that we have it narrowed to an mSL script that requires mIRC to run, you'd need a windows vps to run it 24/7, this is very easily done and is used by some of the larger bots on swiftIRC, such as Faux, and presumably others.

I'd look around for a windows VPS, get mIRC set up on it, set your script up and get it running. As long as the host is stable, that should be the end of that.

A good place to start: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=104 - Look at offers, find a good one, talk to their support. Google them, read their reviews, then decide.
