No such thing as Bids on sythe.

Hmm, this has always occured to me, but never felt like talking about it.

When people say Starting bid, a/w etc.

No one is actually bidding. There is no time limit, if the OP doesn't like the highest bid, they never take it.

Why even have a bid, why not just have the lowest you would take, it really makes me angry, that people will say "Bid noted, looking for more".

That is retarded, it's a bid, if no one outbids, I have to get it, otherwise we aren't bidding. I see this on 9/10 threads. It's ridiculous.

Auctions can have a reserve meaning that they will not go for less than x amount. There also need not be a time limit per say.

 

there's not really anything that can be done though. You can't force the person to take the highest bid they get.

still, I agree that it's a pretty lame thing to do.

And yes you're right there's no time limit. But the bidding process can still take place... On many threads I've seen the price going up and up, and I'd consider this bidding...

If I was to see a price I was interested in accepting then I would, personally. Not sure how other people work it... For example, I'm not interested in selling my accounts for dirt cheap, but I respect the fact you placed an offer, so I noted that offer, but just called it a bid instead. If I don't get what I'm looking for in a day or so, or perhaps a few days then I can go back to your offer and consider it more seriously instead of just straight up declining your offer.

Hope that makes sense, I'm not saying you're talking about me at all because it's an interested topic you've brought up. Just letting you know how I view it with my account sales.

I guess it's just there way of saying "minimum offer" or "offer noted."

All it takes is a couple of guys to do it then the whole of Sythe is doing it.

 

A lot of people actually do take less then their A/w's. It's not always time based, sadly.. It never can be really.. Sythe's too risky to make it time based on something like this.

I do see what you're getting at, and I'm guilty for it, but I don't think what you're getting at is really that big of an issue, and probably not really something you should rant about.

A lot of sales go for less than A/w's by leechers. It's kind of ironic really.

 

I see it like this. If you're selling an account, you want everyone to bid so you can take all offers into consideration. Some newcomers may offer higher but a trusted user may offer lower but they're trusted so it may be safer to do the trade with them.

Even though a newcomer is offering higher, you'd feel safer with a more trusted user, so people may go for that offer instead of the highest.

As for the time limit thing, some people like to leave their thread open for longer, as they'd like to see just how many offers they get/how much they can sell for at the highest.

 

I understand, but I really think they should just say, I'm going to sell the the most trusted highest offer. There are threads that are open for months, and they aren't really bidding on the account.

Lol it's just so people can hope to find a better price, but yeah there's no way to make them take it because the "time" is up.

 

I do agree it should have some eBay features, such as a process everyone has to go to when selling an account. So you set a time etc.

I just think that would take way to much time and effort though, it may deter some scammers though which is always good. And I like the idea of the site you said "Market.Sythe.Org" because even though I personally sell accounts, I believe the website is just flooded with account sales But whatever. It's not doing any harm I guess...

 

I believe the seller can run his market thread just the way he/she wants to do so. If they say "bid noted" than it's a bid that is noted. They usually say that because they're wanting more out of what they're selling. Let the thread starter handle his thread the way they want.

 

I don't exactly understand how it's that bad. I mean it's like me going to a group of people and saying "Hey Guys" even though some of them are girls. It's not right but it's just seen as socially acceptable these days.

 

I was getting at, that it's idiotic if their starting bid is 20m, and I bid 30m, and they say "No thanks looking for more", than why the hell would you put your starting bid so low.

 

Oh. Well I do that too, but I'd still note your offer down as a possible option if no-one else was considering offering higher. Anything under 20m though would be treated as Spam and I'd ignore it completely. Maybe that's what some members do.

 

I understand, but I would never have a starting bid, that I wouldn't ever accept, as alot do.

 

Ah well. I guess that's one of the things about Sythe - we get a freedom of speech and we (Sort of) get to do things our way most of the time.

 

You guys might be on to something here. Maybe something like playerauctions for Sythe users?
