Disappointed with MM'ing

When it comes to finding a MM, there are tons of threads to go through. However, their availability isn't great at all. Could their unavailability be the cause of some scams?

 

If you're too impatient to wait for a MM, then it's really your own fault you get scammed. When you decide you want to use a MM, you should stick to that regardless of their availability.

 

Do you know there's a list of OMM's?
A good amount of them are free too...

And as far as availablility goes, it's down to them. I don't think because they're not available when you want them it means they're a scammer at all. All MM's have to start somewhere Just be cautious and try to use a MM with a lot of vouches if you don't want to use an OMM, as it seems you're cautious about being scammed ( as everyone should be ) but I think new MM's should be given a chance too with small trades. I can understand it's very hard gaining a reputations. However, I do have to say that someone who joined today offering their FREE MM service may be a scammer as I think you have to build up a good reputation first and perhaps have vouches in other things such as trades etc.

While I do agree that sometimes it is hard to find an OMM that is willing to do your trade right when you need it - you have to consider that there really is no fix to this. We can't add more OMM because then the rigorous application's standards will have to be substantially lowered. In turn, the integrity of the OMM would not at the same level as our current application demands, leading to more LARGE scams by OMMs. Like posted above, if you're not trading hundreds of dollars: you should trust a free middleman like Darkgroove, Lilly or myself (there are plenty of others mind you I'm just naming off the top of my head). When you plan large trades alert an OMM before the trade that you would like to be using his services that way he is more prepared for your demands.

 

Take a couple of minutes and add all of the Offical and trusted middlemen you would use that way in the future you'll be able to contact them directly instead of having to go around and post on each of their threads ect. You can't blame them for scams though. If your in so much of a rush to trade that you can't wait for a middleman then you know the risk your taking and if you get scammed it's entirely your own fault.

I know for OMM's its better to contact us when you start your thread (if your a seller) rather then wait until you need us. I don't think I have MM'd a trade in almost a year either, most I have tried lately have fallen through.

They're providing a service to you. If you want that extra safety you may need to wait until one comes online.

Just because a MM's thread isn't at the top of the list doesn't mean they're unavailable. I, and I know many others are readily available if you flick them a PM.

 

This has been brought up and handled continuously ever since the OMM system was put in place, and even while I was an OMM people would complain, and they still do.

You have got to understand that the process for being an OMM is no easy feat. If we lower the standards for OMMs you'll be seeing a lot larger scams from OMMs, and lowering requirements shouldn't be done for that reason.

Sorry to derail the thread with this: however(this is a suggestion), we should try and gauge OMM activity, by having a roll-call thread of sorts in the OMM Lounge, I know we didn't do this when I was OMM, so I'm not sure if you guys added this yet but maybe you can make it so you have to do a certain number of OMMs a week/month to retain your rank. You can request rank suspension if you'll be inactive, and you would obviously get it back when you're active again. And as for the people who fall below the activity line, you could have them do 5 MMs to get their rank back. Just an idea.

 

We already have activity limits in place. As a result users like Sin, darkgroove, and a few others lost the rank.

A helpful tip is to add all of the MM you're comfortable with using to your "Buddy List" (Click on their name and then "add to buddy list").

What if people would rather use other OMMs to you? I never actually found it easy to find a trade, as an OMM you just hope that it falls into your lap, and if your thread isn't at the top of the Middleman forum (do you remember when there wasn't a MM forum? Just the application forum?) then you're not getting as much exposure as you like.

I wouldn't mind MMing trades that are worth hundreds of dollars... would look good on my next application

 

If you can't wait 1 hr 2 hrs 1 day 2 days for a mm, then obviously you are to eager and are willing to be scammed. I would wait a week for a mm as long as i know im not going to get scammed. I would never rush a trade. I can always wait, its a game.

 

Yesterday was the first time I used an MM ever. I found one within 10 minutes, and we completed the actual trade within 10 min as well. There are plenty of free MM's available in my opinion.
