Second Chaotic Maul or Cross Bow?

I currently have a rapier and got 90 dung and another 200k tokens a few weeks ago but havnt decided which chaotic to get. Bow or Maul? I am hoping ot get charms for 80 - 96 summoning soon, so the maul would be good for water fiends. I am 99 attk/str/def/range/hp 96 magic 95 prayer and do alot of slayer, but will continue to use rapier for slayer and if i chose maul, use that for charms. If i get CCB idk what id use it for, but Ive always wanted one.

Would be good for water fiends (would help you get summoning up, because it helps with collecting charms)

Cross Bow:
You're not sure what you'd use it for.

Id get the ccb because you already have a melee chaotic and bursting rock lobs is much better than waterfiends for charms. Some uses for the ccb are arma, pking, maybe you can nex, and its just awesome in general.

 

Get the maul if you do slayer. It will greatly increase the speed of some tasks (like waterfiends). I can't really remember the last time I used range for anything besides pking.

 

Id definitely get the Chaotic Maul over the Chaotic Crossbow, Especially if your not rich enough to burst lobs for charms. The Chaotic Maul will make Waterfiends alot easier and will be more useful since you already know what you are planning to do with it unlike the Crossbow

 

Well i remember you doing a quest for me so im sure you have all the requisites for GOLIATH GLOVES! They are super easy to obtain after getting once, outclass the maul at waterfiends by a pretty decent margin and are wayyyy easier to obtain and replace than the maul. http://www.sythe.org/showthread.php?t=1122863 this thread may help a bit with your decision though it leaves the ccb out, i vote ccb as the maul is no longer the champ and fiends and is overall a shitty weapon outside of SOME safe pvp type situations where a raiper would usually be far better anyways.

 

Maul is badly outclassed by goliath gloves, but ranged is a fail combat skill too. I suggest getting a different reward entirely. Have you ruled out a shield, the c staff, rigour, augury, the ASN, or even dung ring upgrades?

 

I dont need dung ring upgrades, but I just got the maul i dont range very often and Id really like 96 summon for yak and i already got a few k crimsons lol

 

CCB is extremely powerful if you have swift gloves. Maul is kind of shitty because it's slow and two handed.

So get the CCB, swift gloves and goliaths.

 

If you don't range frequently and want to increase your summoning level I would definitely choose the maul.

MAUL! I am in your same situation, not as far as skills, but as far as getting the second chaotic and having this decision but I decided that for summoning, I'd choose maul for amazing waterfiends

 

Go with the crossbow. The crossbow will pay off everything when the Evolution of Combat rolls around. Ranged is already amazing in the beta, and the crossbow just adds to that. Definitely go with CCB.

 

Seeing that you want summoning now I'd recommend the maul.
You can always get the crossbow later on!

 

You've pretty much answered the question yourself to an extent, you have listed that you'll actually get use out of the maul for a goal you have set. You only state you want the crossbow because you've always wanted on but would have no real reasons to use it.

I'd go with the maul personally and reach your goal, they are also pretty fun for PKing and other boss monsters.

 

Chaotic crossbow is the better choice. Maul is cool and all, but goliath gloves beat them by dps.

The gloves are worth getting and practically free. A much better sub for the maul.

 

CCB for TDS and Arma runs
