Graphic Events section

Just suggesting a new subsection called "Graphic Events" where official and unofficial contests, games, and events can be held. This would include the new Signature Saturdays, as well as other things such as: GFX trains, user shoutouts, Guess the Image, etc.

 

With the sub section, I think it would be more appropriate if it redirects from the Graphics Gallery. As for the sub section itself I'm not sure if that would be very active, but I'm pretty sure someone like you could make it active .

It is just an unneeded section that will get even less activity than the Showcase and the showcase gets barely any activity. There are few people who actively post in the GFX section that isn't the market. There was the SoTW section that was there and it got no activity, so when Spray went through and changed the section around it was taken out. There is so little activity in the three non-market sections that honestly the Resource section and the Questions section should be merged.

It is just better to keep it as stickies in the Showcase section, because I know you're trying but there was only 3 actual signatures that got submitted in the first competition even with a cash prize. This community just isn't really graphics centric unless it is the market and most of the GFX marketers aren't even active on Sythe besides bumping their graphics thread.

 

Because "Graphics gallery" is contest material.

"Display your artwork to the community and offer advice."

A section for the events is needed. It would be extremely easy to find events and what not. The showcase is completely different to contests.

I'd make due with a subsection, but I don't want to bury the SS beneath a whole parent forum, I wouldn't mind if the rest was buried as such, but my end goal is to get regular participation from all GFX regulars, and I feel it'd be harder to do that of we bury the section.

 

Not relevant? I am one of the few poster (3 to 4 at most) who has been faithfully active to the Graphics section. I have pushed for activity and try to help any people that come into the section, talk to Spraynwipe I worked with him for a while on rewriting the stickies and reforming the entire section. Just because the description doesn't say 'HAVE CONTESTS HERE' doesn't mean that it isn't a valid place pt have them. There just isn't a need for another section that are just going to be as inactive as the rest. There will be spans of time that can be days or even a week or more where no one posts new material in the Gallery or no one posts questions or resources and adding another section solely for the purpose of having contests isn't needed.

Now if in a month or two if the SS has taken off and we are getting 10 or 15 actual competitors then it would be a valid suggestion, but as it stands there isn't any need in it becuase if we have to beg people to post signatures then it isn't really a good competition.


I really respect Moh because he is going through with what the section has been needing for a while and he has posted several good CnCs. I thank him dearly for helping out the section I have put work into and helped out for a while now. I just don't think this is a good idea right now, but like I said if we get numerous active/regular participants I would gladly support it.

 

I have to agree with nero..although a subsection to keep it from being buried would hurt!

 

Since Siggy Saturdays isn't really happening anymore, this wouldn't really be useless unless Moonglare decides to start up again.
