It happens in every mmorpg... Duped currency.

I'm surprised it took this long for runescape to reach this stage but, alas, it's in effect.

I'm just curious as to how it will affect the economy of the game, but I think if they really do implement the Combat Evolved, this destruction is well deserved.

Which also ruins the economy. However, this isn't the first time a money glitch has been exploited.

The game honestly stopped being fun for me when they took away the wildy... Although I believe it became completely ruined when SoF took place.

Items have been duped before, and to a greater extent as well. The Purple phat duping glitch of years ago comes to mind.

Literally happened over the course of 3 months. Multiple glitches, including the crucible glitch brought billions of GP into the game and skyrocketed rares due to the current inflation.

shows the vid of old bh dupe and talks about the newest dupe. its patched now but realllllly fucked the economy. OP you act like theres never been a dupe in runescape before or something .. which is silly theres been several with a big impact on economy, the purple phat dupe was a bigger affect than this i would say. but really .. who knows this just happened we havent seen the full effects just yet

Purple phat dupe was in effect when Runescape was extremely less popular than it is today. There was a very limited black market presence because fan sites had barely begun popping up. I think that this dupe has effected more dollar value of RSGP, though I do agree it probably affected the total cash in play in the market by a lot less than the phat dupe did.

It almost didnt do any effect, just panic. About 1 tril duped(thats not a lot, andys fdk made multiple times over that last year as far as i remember even though the dupe made inflation not materials). Purple went from 950 to 1100 and now is back to 950 red from 1.3 to 1.5 and now is back to 1.3.
Panic makes money, the biggest effect the dupe had was on PA since a guy dumped over 50-60b daily at 30-50% lower than other respected members and PA is the site that connects all gold selling website and is something like a Market Estimation Value now. Now its back to normal again, prices went up over 30-40% in the last 24hrs(glitch was patched about 30hrs ago)

As far as Jagex has told, they're doing a rollback, smart move as it would of made some serious damage this time..

Ahhh do not panic that much :)

    1. A part of the money will be removed again, by bans etc (If we can believe them)
    2. The dupe is fixed, no new constant cash stream
    3. Prices are already on a rise here again

Give it a few weeks and you will barely notice anything from it.
Only the cheaters that got away with this have a pretty nice IRL bank now ;)

lol it was a glitch and has been fixed this isn't like with the poor quality mmo's that allow it to keep happening because they can't afford hackshield etc. jagex is actually quite intelligent they're just also really lazy. and want to make the quick buck.

Oh Runescape gets dupe glitches every couple of years. Nothing will hurt the economy as long as there is a demand for the gold. Conversely if the rares were to get duped like they did in '02 then watch the economy go bye bye.

If kids are still pixel hungary and want to look cool infront of other runescape players (which Rs is, just a game of pride) Then there is always going to be a demand for gold.

When the construction skill came out there was a money dupe that included the treasure chest in your PoH dungeon and a shitload of accounts were banned, even people who aquired the duped gold by selling items were banned I believe.
