What is your most important material possession?

I have to jump on the bandwagon and say my iPhone as well. It's been my only way to communicate with the outside world in some cases and serves as a lifeline.

 

to you and to every one else that has said iphone, why is it the most meaningful item in your life? i understand that your friends, business, banking, and all free time is in that but what about it makes you just smile every time you look at it? i know every time i look at my bracelet i smile and think back at the memories i have with mine. I love my phone but it is not anywhere close to my most important material object.

 

I don't really have any items with sentimental value, but the best ones I can come up with are my guitars. My Epiphone Les Paul because it was my first guitar from 4 or 5 years ago, I learned just about all I know about playing guitar on it, the headstock has been broken off and fixed twice and I've stuck with it as my main guitar (basses excepted). It's also got a look to it that isn't necessarily unique but you don't really see around on Les Pauls much anymore (Cherry red and cream finish, with a bigsby tremolo)

My Fender Geddy Lee jazz bass mostly because it's a fucking solid instrument that I'll probably never get rid of or stop using. I did just get pretty recently but it's one of the smoothest basses I've played and I'm proud to own it.

If anything else, I suppose my laptop because I use it excessively and it was one of the first larger purchases I made with my own money. It's quite outdated, the screen and battery are toast, USBs are fidgety, and it's by no means irreplaceable, but it's definitely a purchase I haven't looked back on

 

I also don't really have any items with sentimental value, but I got a present a few months ago from my girlfriend. It is a watch, im right now wearing and yeah since she gave me it, I always have it with me. (Probably because she gets mad if she sees me without it lol)

 

I'm going to have to say my car, so useful to be able to drive around anywhere whenever I need to

 

I have this silver bracelet, Cost about $500, A secret girlfriend I had. Gave it to me to remember her. Brings back alot of memories, Both good and bad.

 

My prescription glasses without them I would be lost lol

I don't own a cell phone so I cant say that its my most important thing, but even if i did own one it still wouldnt be. lol

Anyway. I have alot of very meaningful items that I use in different ways.

Even though I'm to old I still sleep with a teddy bear my ol lady gave me when she aint here to cuddle. She means the world to me so the things she gives me are equally important.

A studded bracelet that a friend made by hand with a strip of leather and metal studs. He died in 2010. 1981 - 2010 RIP.

I also take a weed pipe that a good friend gave me before he went to prison and a grinder my ol lady gave me with me where ever I go cuz you never know when someone might pull out a bag. lol.

One thing I take EVERYWHERE with me is an italian milano stiletto switchblade that I got for christmas one year. It has no sentimental value except it being my favorite type of knife and the lifestyle/area I live in requires some sort of protection, but Id never sell it or trade it for any amount of money or weapons, its been at my side for almost 4 years and will never leave my side. I'll be buried with it.

Another item I plan to b burried in is my Leather Motorcycle jacket. I was raised by bikers and Harley Davidson enthusiasts and recieving this jacket was my version of "becoming a man" instead of shooting a deer or w/e most people do to "become men"

 

they aren't the same but they are of equal importance. the one i actually read from is a duocore and it has both the bible and the book of mormon in it.

 

Probably my iPhone, I feel naked without it. My computer and favorite hat are up there as well though.

 

LOL, everyone here says "iPhones/laptops", I find that funny because of how often I'm usually chucking my phone in a rage down the street.

Honestly, my guitar is my baby and is surprisingly with me pretty often.

 

Can people read or is everyone going to say their phone?

 

its fine if people say their phone as long as they back it up. if not im going to start reporting for spam.

 

mine is very similar to darks, i have a picture of my old dog i carry in my wallet and her collar hung above my door i pretty much reach up and touch it before i walk out of my room every day. kinda weird and ritualistic i know but i had her from age 5-21 and she was a huge part of my life.
Not sure which trumps what but i was also given a knife by my grandfather shortly before he died, it had his name etched in the bottom of the hilt and was worn and used by him for years the wear and tear and general use makes it mean so much more than some of the junk my family received after his passing, that and HE gave it to me it wasnt inherited or claimed.
