Exactly. Rushing/PJing is getting nerfed in some way, shape or form.

I would be really nice to have it only work in combat, or give a 5-10 second timer in which you can't use your spec.

I really hope it's not random like I suggested, takes the fun out of using a spec, plus, it will waste your spec if you're using a whip or d scim

RS combat system is fine the way it is.

 

I see them implementing this and then in a few months taking it back out, a la no free trade. Someone stated that you can paint a turd gold but it is still a turd and that is so very, very true. The game is mediocre and people play it for what it is, not for trying to be WoW or something. This will also ruin my ability to play, if they make it an active combat system. Damn latency.

 

gf staking but pking will become similar to dota.....

 

How do you guys think staking will be affected by the update?
I think it is going to be completely screwed.

I also hope you guys realize that this is going to be a BETA.
What is in the beta is not going to be the final result, and they have clearly said they're looking for opinions from the rs community.

 

My main disappointment within this is the pure side of things. I've been playing RS since 2005, and from 2007 I've played 95% pure accounts, 45 defence and less. I do have a main with 2350+ total and 82 defence, but before I had defence up it was a 2300+ total zerker, as soon as I levelled defence my interest for that account really drained, as it was boring. Hopefully with this new combat system mains become more fun, and maybe I'll take an interest in it again, but I really do love pures. Though I personally think Jagex will fuck up somewhere within this update, and people will recreate the definition of "pure", because there will be another imbalance and people will take advantage of that and mould their accounts to it. If they manage not to do this, then kudos - but I doubt they will.


Also, I'm curious about the staking side of things - boxing in particular. Hopefully it stays similar, because boxing is literally the best source of income within this game, if they fuck that up they're going to lose a lot of players. I have a maxed account that can use this feature automatically when it's released, so I'm keen to test it and see how it is. Though from what I've read, this update is going to be BIG, and hopefully their word is not wrong. Though they said bot nuking would be the end of bots once and for all, but look 6 months down the track bots are back and everywhere. I'm gonna' say expect the unexpected, in hopes that they actually do something good for their game for once.

 

A linear scale for strength means a constant increase of strength. Where as an exponential scale would mean a small increase of strength at lower levels, then the higher you get, the more it increases. (Look up the difference between linear and exponential functions on google or wiki, a graph will help explain this) Though I don't think RuneScape is even based on a linear scale at the moment. Because 10-20 strength does not give the same strength increase as 80-90, but I will have a look at this right now and update my answer.


EDIT: Okay, Runescape combat IS based on a linear scale, essentially at the moment every strength level you increase, your max hit increases by "1". For instance, with an equipment strength of zero and a strength level of 1, your max hit with a punch is 14. With 2 strength your max hit is 15, with 10 strength its 23, so on and so forth, meaning a max hit with 99 strength being 112. (1 strength max hit, 14; 99 strength max hit, 112 - 98 strength differences, 98 damage difference) An exponential scale will change this, meaning they'll use an exponential function say y=e^x, or something similar to that to so that y will increase in respect to the power of e. Sort of complicated to explain but it would work. Essentially it will mean 40-50 strength will not give the same strength boost as 80-90, it will go from a low increase to high increase per level, increasing exponentially.

 

They may as well just make a new game and leave this one like it.. used to be.

 

I'm nervous because of the effect it'll have on Pures and on Staking. Hopefully it doesn't completely remove the ability to do/have either in this game.

 

Jagex already implied that this update will mean bye bye pures. But the new combat system sounds interesting, with all the new gimmicks involved.

 

Not sure how this is going to go, Guess we'll have to wait and see!

 

Well Im definitely looking forward to trying this out, really hope they dont ruin the game (again).. I dont care about the pure thing cause Ive never actually pked on one but wow getting rid of the special attack bar?? This has got to be the stupidest idea Jagex has thought of

I sort of see this too. They pleased the players for what, a year and a half? I see they're releasing bounty hunter again =@ . The botting takes a huge part in the RS economy, so I could easily see Jagex trying to "nuke" the bots again. But, the last time it left thousands of players unsatisfied and fucked up everything. One of their new "brilliant" updates .

 

The updates that Jagex has done in the past have had there ups and downs.
Personlly whatever update Jagex does, big or small, I will still be a dedicated player.
I can't quit the game, even if I play other games. (WoW, LoL, Xbox, etc)

They have made the game work for years now and I think this will be good for the game.

Only thing that worries me is what will happen to Pures, Staking, etc.

 

I'm sure that if it's good for the game, it won't effect either things.

 

Pures will still be here, you just won't have 99 str and be a level 65.

Basically, your stats/damage that you can deal will be accuratly represented in your combat level.

So, a maxed staker @ 113 combat may now be 120 combat or something like that.

This possibly could mean getting a combat level of 126/138 may be easier.
Ex: You would have 90 prayer and maxed everything else and be a level 126. Instead of having 90 prayer and being a level 125. (You would need 98 prayer in order to be 126 as of today).

 

I heard something about Pures getting ruined. I don't know what that means, but I'm pretty sure it has something to do with skill being entered in to PvP/PvM. I'm looking forward to it. Something new is always nice.

 

But for max hit, what about cwars armor. You can have 75 att, 40 def and 90 strength and hit a 700. Does that mean you'll be cb 120?

 

gf rs tbh. even jagex themselves said pures are ruined, and to quote them directly " an account with 99 attack, strength, and 1 defence will almost certainly get steamrollered by an account with, say, 50 defence."

i dont know about you guys, but i have a 99 range pure, and im rather angered.
its a good thing ive maxed my cb stats on my main, cause the description of this shit update makes me never want to do combat again.

i'm going to max my account and be done with this shit game, forever.
