How hard would it be to move to a new country and start a new life?

How hard would it be. Just pack up everything and go.

Beside the name and passport you will need money, a place to live etc..

other then that Its not hard. I my self moved to UK when I was 19.

 

Man... moving means letting go of all your friends, family (If you have some staying), your school and all those precious memories you have.

If you find it ok and easy to let go of all those, then moving should be quite simple.

 

I've moved overseas more than 5 times now in my life, all to different countries around the world (I'm 19) thanks to my dads job. Many friends and best friends lost, and was away from home (australia) for about 12 years. Just moved back home on my own start of last year and now the parents/siblings are here too.

It's really difficult to adjust the first time, but at the same time it is liberating in the sense that you can start fresh and forget about the past you've left behind. And you will change a lot as a person because you'll learn to fend for yourself and adapt to people coming and going (great training for when you leave school to college/uni/etc and all your friends move their separate ways).

Really besides the whole friend/relationship thing, it's a matter of having money and a stable job to allow you to stay on your own without family support.

 

It basically means starting your life all over from scratch.

 

Easy. You will adapt fast enough. If you are certain that moving countries will help your life go forward, then go ahead.

Just out of curiosity, which country are you planning on moving to? And from where?

 

I think your first step should be figuring out exactly where you'll be able to live. You should also have at least somewhat of a plan in terms of WHY you're there, such as going to school. If you randomly decide to move to a different country and have no idea what the hell you'll be doing there, it will probably feel like a waste of time for the first several months/years and you'll end up going back home. If you want to live in the United States, keep in mind that it is typically VERY difficult to get a good job (I hope you've heard about the economic crisis).
Right now, it may seem like this will all be easy and work out perfectly. Starting fresh, freedom, blah blah blah. I advise you to spend at least a year thinking everything over. Make sure you REALLY know what you're doing.

 

It's easier than people think, you only really need money and to sign a few documents and you'd be sorted.

 

it's super easy if you have the money...

recently moved across canada with a couple suit cases, a few bags and my daughter and girlfriend...It wasn't that hard...

We decided that we wanted to move and in a month we left and took a bus for 2 days...now I live in saskatchewan (where I was born) and we are doing better than we ever did when we lived in toronto.

 

In this age, it's not really so hard anymore. With the internet, you can easily communicate with people in other countries. The hardest obstacle might be immigration laws depending on who you are.

 

To be honest, if you have money, it can't be all that hard. You can live in hotels as a tourist or whatever until you get settled down. I feel like if I had enough, I could go wherever.

 

I hope it won't be hard.. Next year i'm moving from Poland to UK.

 

i've tried to start over. i was having psychotic episodes and was heavily medicated. i hated it, all the medicine, therapy and doctors apointments. i was in a mental hospital and escaped. i spent the night downtown and then in the morning i started to hitch out towards my goal of vegas (i wouldn't think to look for a lost kid in vegas, it's all tourists) i made it from portland, OR to pendleton before i was picked up by the police. i must say that i had an amazing experience and learned alot about myself while i was gone. idk how hard it would be for an adult, i'm just 17.

 

You don't even need a place to stay. Sleep outside for a while.

 

The real issue nowadays is language. I've moved from Israel to the US several times and it can be relatively difficult to adjust to a new language and social customs, but other than that it's relatively simple.

 

i feel like moving to the u.s. would be the easiest transition to make, due to everyone in the world knowing all about our pop culture lol

Exactly this. Nobody else has even mentioned jobs yet, which should be your first and foremost priority. Without a job you have no money, and without money you can't live, at least not properly. Secure a job first - Apply online, or even take a week and apply to places in-person around the area you were thinking of staying. Once you score something, however mediocre it may be, settle in and "fix" it later. If your main focus is to get out of your current country and establish yourself elsewhere, then being a waiter for a year then switching into engineering or whatever else would be just fine.

Don't forget that you ALWAYS need a backup plan, too. You don't want to be stranded in a country you've grown to hate simply because you have close to no cash. If you're able to, I'd save up enough for both a flight to the country and a flight back. No one-ways, those are generally a bad idea unless you know 100% you're not going back.

I've seen so many people try and fail to move out of the country, and even out of the province. Security is your first priority, always, or else you will fail. I mean security in a very general sense, too (secure a job, secure a place to live, secure steady finances and income, etc.).
