What the fuck, JaGeX you have gone too far...again. -Impossible to change password.

Edit: I do not see how being incapable of changing your password is adding to the security of the account.
If someone knows the password and you want to change it, you can't. You have to link an e-mail to it. By the time this has done, the person may have already emptied it.

If someone knows the password and you have to wait two weeks for the new e-mail to be set, whilst bank pin takes 3-7 days to remove...I think you can finish this yourself.

It's also gonna be a bitch to sell accounts now, universal paswords can only be changed after an e-mail has been set. When an e-mail has been set, nobody will buy the account due to fear of recovery.

 

No reason this can't go in RS General. I think they're just trying to help players have more secure accounts, but at the same time annoy the hell out of us.

 

Making a valid e-mail is not that much of a hussle. I've always done so for my own accounts and for the accounts I'd sell. Obviously this does suck for accounts with fake e-mail which already exist.

I actually like this update. It is a great step forward in account safety.

Consensus seems to be that this is a good thing, if you don't know the email registered, you can register a new email and wait 2 weeks, or you can use one of the free guides to instantly change an email

I don't see the problem, JaGeX tries to help players, but yes it's annoying.
As I'm reading the responses above, I think it's quite easy to fix this.

 

It's good for legitimate players, however it'll make my mming a bit of a pain now.
50/50 about this update.

 

Hmm maybe if sythe incorporated the same thing Jagex has done here there wouldnt be as many hackings....

 

thats why you should have a pin set and also if you want to change your email, you just recover it and they ask you what email you want it set too....pretty easy

I personally don't think it's that awesome of an update. I really don't see the point to it, especially now because I need to add a real email to all my accounts that have fake e-mail logins.

 

Tbh, it reduces hacking unless the hacker does his/her research and knows you well enough to hack your email to then it's quite impossible to get it back.

 

Not really, what this does is to prevent hacker from taking over the user's account aswell as its cash.

Which means, if the user still have the account, they can buy more cash and keep on paying jagex the monthly bills. If they don't have this update, players would've just quit because their account is lost... and jagex lose every thing.
