What's wrong with the servers?

Just wandering if there is any specific reason. The standard of Sythe's server seems to be getting progressively worse and worse. It's came to the point where I no longer post on anything besides my Kiln thread because 99% of the time I try to post it take a minute to respond and then I get errors. Nothing more frustrating than spending 5-10 minutes on a post, then getting an error. It happens atleast 50% of the time atm, for me at least. Never used to be this bad, it takes me at least 3 attempts (as an average) to open any thread.

Most likely the server's playing up or we're being DDOSed by someone, most of the time it's the second one. There's not a lot that can be done to be honest aside from waiting it out.

You may want to use for making replies to threads when the site is slow, I find you have more success in posting rather than using the quick reply option.

 

Yeah just tried to edit my post it just spun for 10 mins and did nothing, doubt this post will work though

 

no man im with u, its fucking shit, it takes a minute to load, and 60% of time it says 504-error for liek 20 mins, then i can go on again, and when i click "private messages" it says "image" on a blank white page

Just the normal DDoS'ing and occasional Server Errors.

It's generally a lot better when it's late afternoon/nighttime in Sydney, Australia. (GMT+10.) I only get about 3-4 errors in a 6 hour time frame. Obviously at this time most American/European users are either asleep or at school/work and the server load from honest users is halved or only a third of it's regular activity.

Would that mean that the strain is coming from the amount of users? Or do people only DDoS the site during the American/European day?

 

Also for the past few weeks i've been having a lot of trouble sending PMs. Anyone else have this issue?

 

I have noticed that when sending PMs and posting posts/threads, the server stops responding and the 502 errors appear much more often compared to when I'm just browsing.

 

I always just press back and after like four tries the PM goes through. Between that and the site almost always being down for me it is almost impossible to send PMs lol.

 

Yeah that's what I end up doing. Sometimes when I check my sent messages, I see I've sent two or three of the same messages, even though the server was down. Same with posts, I've had to delete some double and triple posts lately.

Do you also find the site is a little better at this time?

yesterday for about 75% of the day I couldn't even get on sythe lol :/

 

This has been going on since the first of the year or so, and there are some days that I just give up and not come here. It starts to just be a waste of time when I can't view a thread, and then it is almost no chance that I can post on some days.

 

Its really not THAT bad... it is certainly irritating when I'm MM'ing or trading, but its not unbearable.

Then again, none is better than what we have now ? (Hopeful )

 

I always get 501-Internal Server Error. But then I just wait 15 Minutes and it's back up again.

 

Have you thought of changing the server?

The new Intel E3/E5 Servers are in great price.

 

A couple of days ago the website was down completely for easily half of the day, I know what you mean, surely we can live without Sythe for a day but I think it's still worth looking into, especially when Sythe pays a fortune to keep it going. I really wish we didn't have these No-life attackers.
