    Computer Science Major?

    Hello guys,

I have recently changed my degree plan to double major in Chemical Engineering and Computer Science. I am a Freshmen in college, and I'll start my first CS class next fall that would go over Python. I would like to start ahead by learning the basics before getting into the class. Do you guys have any tips/advice/websites on where I can self teach Python? I would really appreciate it.

This reminds me about my first year last year, my first class was python too :p I have no links for you but do you have any past programming experience? In ways it is similar to java except python is ALOT easier on the eyes when reading the code lol. Good luck.

Probably I would also like to suggest you for the search engine like Google, Yahoo or Ezine. Are you not interested in C or C++ or have you already covered these languages, as I think that to start in the computers a person should learn these languages first.

I would honestly buy a book on it, or even take one out from a public library. Books tend to be more in-depth and will give you a much more thorough understanding that will prepare you for computer science.

Holy shit @ your double major though, that's going to be rough...

Even if this existed (no clue if it does) it is better to have a large range of programming knowledge. The more languages the better, within reason (the commonly used ones). The more languages you know the more job options that open up for you.

What he said ^ I currently am working as a JAVA programer but know c++, vb, c#, etc.

It is best to start learning by reading books, watching tutorials, and practicing. It may not come to you at first, but it will click when class starts.
