Fun Rank Equality

Actually I'm surprised I didn't think of that when I suggested quarterly or semi annual awards voted on by staff

It's just human nature to be afraid of noobs I suppose
Anyways great suggestion, support fully

 

SUPPORT, I have been wondering about some upper class users and find it really cool that they have fun ranks such as crabby and zombie, etc. I would love to see more of these ranks@

 

I would rather our mods have incentive to do a better job than a regular user feel good about winning a popularity contest twice a year.

 

Support, as long it doesn't become too easy to get one. If everyone had one, then there'd be no point to the "distinguishing" characteristic they're supposed to give a user (Imo at least).

 

I think alt hit it right on the head. i support the motm/year winners should get a fun rank.

 

I support but i think we should make them harder to get and almost rare such as the competition winner rank. Ive only seen staff with fun ranks so far, and its kind of disrespecting to all the people who contributed time to making them and they dont even receive them

 

The people who won the fun rank competition each received the rank they created.

 

How about every 3 months the overall member of the month gets a rank of there choice also 1k+ usd donars can have one.

Support.. "fun" ranks are supposed to be fun eg. if you have a member who is like addicted to the spam forums give him a "fun" spammer rank with like a can of spam or something... I know that's a dumb example but it is the general idea of a fun rank.

 

This, have a requirement like x amount of posts and vouches and then you earn a fun rank

 

Vouches are subjective though, you can't really go with vouches. Post count is more solid, and no one can argue post count. No one can argue with a blind poll for member of the quarter, or whatever. If they do, do a member of the then the poll should be blind.

 

I don't want to start seeing every other user with a fun rank. They should be earned like they had to be back in the day.

 

I think that fun ranks should only be given out to close friends of admins and some select few from the staff team/people who contribute a lot to this community. They shouldn't be just given out all over the place or as a reward for having a good mod log or anything like that.

 

The part about an inside joke describes it perfectly. Saying that, I feel I haven't been around nearly long enough to obtain one myself. Perhaps just have more regular competitions say, once a month were one person will get one. Thats 12 people a year in a community this size it would probably go near unnoticed.

 

Yeh, but all the active people are around, the community is indeed quite big, but most of them are constant ban evaders, and newcomers, who don't last long.

 

I think we are all fine with them being earned, as long as there is the possibility of them being earned in the first place.

Giving them out to friends will just cause people to be jealous and accuse the admins of being bias, which will just end us up where we are now.

That is what we all seem to be agreeing on to be the most fair/efficient method.

 

I'd honestly like Tech Guru if they were to exist... and many other should have it.

Otherwise, my word is to to remove it. Share the whole idea, or don't share it.

Fun ranks are one of the few benefits we're able to afford to active staff members. We give them out solely on a standardized basis. Having such a basis for regular users isn't possible. However, we will continue to hold community contests where ranks can be won.

I don't see how letting admins "choose" which community members to award would be any more fair. In fact that idea would only spark anger.

With regard to the rank creation contest: It was stated in the rules that the ranks would be given first to the creators and then used for staff only. I don't see how any misconceptions could have come out of it...

To reiterate: We won't be giving out fun ranks to regular members unless they're winners of a contest in which a fun rank is the award. It's possible to earn them. You're welcome to suggest any contests in another suggestions thread.
