Sythe Moderators.

I'm not saying all Sythe Moderators are extremely rude, disrespectful, and terribly arrogant; but I feel as if many who I've encountered personally or watched by on the sidelines as they unnecessarily harass another User for a power trip don't deserve the position they're in.

I could care less to become one; especially with how unfriendly the majority are.
So lets clear that up now.

& Honestly I see more Ex-Mods than Mods; so it's nice to see action is taken against the undeserving; shame though not all the undeserving have yet to meet a strip of their power.

-So why post this Nik?
Sythe may be an underground economy for mainly RuneScape,
But I feel as if as all communities, you should be able to feel welcome here; experience a friendly atmosphere without everyone jumping for your throat.

Just my opinion on the matter.
My feedback is for all the Sythe Staff to reflect on their actions they feel might have been poor judgement or find some that are; and realize the only way to be taken seriously is not presenting yourself as a stubborn, selfish, a-hole - For the lack of better words.

No one is making you stay if you dislike the community so much.

 

I have never encountered a Rude, Disrespectful, Arrogant staff member but as Emperor said, You don't have too stay if you don't like the community.

 

Which moderators have you had bad experiences with?

 

If you feel this way about a certain staff member than you should give specific feedback on that member(s). Posting a thread saying some mods do it is accomplishing nothing. If you think someone is being disrespectful or abusive, voice your opinion, you won't be banned for giving honest feedback.

 

Where did you read I was staying because I enjoy the company of the Community?
- I do not.

But it's irritating getting pushed around by some <InsultHere> Moderator being as blunt and rude as he/she wants because he/she assumes he can do so when I originally had no intentions of being a victim of their Power Trip in the first place.

If Sythe was in any way like the Grand Exchange, I would use it.
But it's not.

With player interaction comes conflict, with conflict comes judgement.
With judgement comes the power, and someone has to have the power to make those judgements.

I choose not to deal with those people but I happen to do so every time I get on here and I'm finally speaking up.

So get out of here if you're one of the thousands of juveniles who log-in to only argue or troll someone because bath time is over and their homework is done for the night.

 

I don't get why you have to say this man. He is just trying to give feedback to the moderators of sythe and make sythe a better community as a whole. He obviously likes sythe if he actually bothers to post, give feedback.

 

If you could provide some examples of this behavior then action will be taken against those involved - believe me
The staff are looked up to by many, and should maintain a solid level of maturity, professionalism, and have respect for all members in the community - if they aren't fulfilling this role, then they don't belong on the team.

So yes, if you could elaborate a little further on the problems you've seen (possibly those involved) then it would help us make a positive change for the future. Don't worry about pointing the finger, most of us do our best to respect the feedback of others - good or bad.

If the Moderator gets demoted due to his/her abusive ways they'll become a more bitter human being than prior.

All I want is for Sythe to open up, be more accepting to the Community rather than shun them with the "I'm better than you & I can do whatever I want" ego.

He/she is not all to blame, however.
Because yes, I feel I was at fault there a little bit.

But understand,
When the Forum is very unpopulated at the time my Thread was posted, the issue presented was unnecessarily brought up not only by him.

tl;dr
Stupid reasons = Power Trip; unnecessary ego boosting.

 

Meh, I'm gonna agree with you to an extent. We're not professional, there's no way we can be. So, a lot of the times we're stuck with kids and people who probably shouldn't be in the position in the first place. As for the ex-mod rank, those are only those who left staff in good standing, lol. Almost everyone who was demoted either doesn't have the rank or is banned.

Feel free to call out any mods you had in mind, this section is for feedback after all

I do realize everyone has different personalities and views on certain situations,
But it doesn't take any effort at all to be friendly towards another person.

Being friendly & helpful,
Those are the two most honorable and respectful aspects a Staff Member can have.

If you guys truly want to be role models for the Community,
I really suggest one or the other gets worked on heavily by some of the Staff.

 

Nikoli, I understand your viewpoint, and your thoughts on the ideal online community would apply for most forums.

However, Sythe is a trading forum, dealing with real life currency. Thus, there will always be scammers and people with malicious intent. The only way to deal with the countless amounts of them is to have an apathetic attitude towards them, or they won't be removed from the forum. The staff cannot tell the scammers from the honest traders, so they must have the same monotone viewpoint towards everyone.

The best stragedy is to separate yourself from the scammers and believe that the mods are doing the best for the community. The staff here is pretty non-corrupt, which is something we should be thankful for. The mods need to have an aura of authority, since they are here to put rules in place.

I understand your concerns and do agree somewhat. However, the staff here is overall a benefit to Sythe.

 

Mods don't give out infractions or scold people for a power trip though, they do it as a warning to keep you from doing again. Just as with anything else Sythe has rules has to followed for a person to be part of it. If you are warned you shouldn't take it personally, at least they are acknowledging what you are doing something wrong and not just handing out infractions so that you get a build up ban and not know what happened.

Sythe Staff (At least most) has probably the highest professionalism of any moderating staff I have seen, and I am a member of several communities. Since there is a lot of money that passes through here on a daily basis they have to be fairly tough when it comes to rule breakers. Going lax and not enforcing the rules leads to chaos running amok.

 

You're starting to take my Feedback out of context putting it into your own.

-Yes, I agree, some are helpful; some have even benefited myself in certain situations.
But does that mean I like him/her for everything they've done prior? No.
I just appreciate him/her in that case.

Take Jagex for example, we all know Jagex.
When they ban you, they provide you ways to prevent it happening again upon return on a fresh account.
Do they say "We're tired of dealing with you - Get off our game."? No.
They're friendly even about the worst case scenarios.

Compare that to Sythe.

Again, this is not directed at all Sythe Staff members; I've seen some very friendly and helpful one's.

It'd just be nice to see those who are dishonorable "Leaders of the Community" to start new and show a little more respect to the people keeping the site thriving.

 

Just for the record, those with the Ex-Mod ranks have left on good terms. Ex-Mod ranks aren't granted to those who have been stripped of their respective ranks.

 

This isn't your Thread to prove yourself as a worth Sythe Moderator; so just get out as you knowingly are taking my feedback out of context as well.

Re-read what I've typed.

I'm not asking what they do to help better ourselves.

I'm talking about how they go about doing it and if the certain individuals are making the right calls on doing it.

Nice to know you took the time to analyze a legitimate reasoning to back your standings; instead going straight to a way to troll me out of spite.

 

I do agree there are a few staff members that are terribly rude and will not see eye to eye on a lot of things, considering they think they're better than you. Honestly it also seems like, position are only given to friends of other moderators as if it were just a group of friends that get promoted rather than say a normal member helping out the community although there has been acceptations, I try to steer clear of majority of staff members for this reason.
