That 560 ti will run just about anything you throw at it. If you ever want to upgrade in the future, just grab another and sli them.

EDIT: and after looking at the price, you over-payed big time. And I don't see any information about the power supply.

Don't really need that processor man, a dual core gaming system would run what you want on the highest without any problems for a lot less then your price, but if you want to go that then it's fine after all personal preference and it's your PC, just adding my two cents!

An i5 2500k would run games fine, no need for the i7. I have the 560 though and that runs everything fine, although if you wanted to you could get another 560 or sell it and go for a 570. Either way, you did get ripped off a bit.

Buy parts from Newegg and assemble the computer yourself. You'll be saving $$$ if you do so.

Nowadays, the Intel i5 2500k is the ideal CPU.

No reason to sell the 560ti when he could get upgrade by getting another one and have better performance than any one single card on the market at equal value.

2012 and no quad core? Come on... With a dual core, you're basically asking to have to upgrade. A 2500k or 2600k would future-proof you for a very good amount of time.

See, if he's willing to pay $1600 for the pc, then there's no reason he shouldn't go with the i7 2600k. The only thing I see is that gateway tries to screw him over with the i7 2600, rather than giving him the 2600k while still charging him more than they should. You could build a computer with the exact same specs and a 2600k on Newegg for less money. I know the only difference between the 2600k and 2500k is the HT, which isn't used by games yet, but it definitely will be. tl;dr, if you're spending $1600, it's stupid to not get the best hardware you can within the budget.

OP, you definitely overpaid. It's a very good PC and all, but you could have built such a better system for that price. Like you probably could have had a 2500k / 7970 combo, maybe even 2600k. Then you would be running truly anything. If it's not too late I would cancel the order and built it myself IMO, just my 2c.

kill dank, HT has been around for a long, long time (since the Pentium 4 days) and it is still not utilized by most applications, games included. The fact of the matter is HT isn't that great of a technology, its maximum benefit just isn't that great. You can only squeeze so much performance out of a single core and adding another pipeline on that single core won't do much in terms of performance.

It doesn't hurt though considering he had more than a high enough budget..

I know. I would have suggested a 2600k too. I was just addressing your point where you said HT would be utilized by games in the future and all that.
