Whose wrong. Me or seller?

I sent $400 via WU to a guy(legit guy) on sythe exactly as he asked(name,country, etc). He goes to pickup and says they wouldnt give it to him bc his passport is expired. He tells me to change the name of the receiver but I cant do that. Shouldn't he turn over the goods he owes me and how he gets the $$ is his problem?

I went through with my side of the deal so he should, his no?

 

My theory - You've done your half of the deal, therefore he should hand over the goods, it's his fault if he can't collect it, as you've sent it him.

 

He is able to collect it if he gets a passport. That may involve 4-6 weeks, but that's his fault

 

My first impression is that he's trying to scam you. He needs to send it over-- you're in the clear.

 

I've dealt with him before(with bigger amounts) so I doubt it but I guess its plausible.

I will ask him to hand over the goods when he gets back but if he refuses to, I guess I will file a scammer report.

 

It is his fault, you've done your part of the deal, and if you can't simply request money back and send to a new receiver, then you can't do anything else rather than have the goods, which you already paid sent to you.

 

I agree with Jack, you've done what you were asked to do. You completed your end of the trade correctly, and should be paid.

It's not your fault he failed to submit a valid photo-ID. He fucked up, not you.

 

No he doesn't have to give you the goods until the payment is picked up. However it was his mistake and since a receiver change requires a fee he should be held responsible for paying that fee.

Technically he hasn't been paid yet so for all he knows he can give you the goods and you can still tell WU to cancel the payment since it hasn't been picked up yet.

Nope, can't work like that. What if he cancels the WU order in the middle of the trade (not saying string cheese would). Its either Stringcheese is courteous and waits patiently to receive his goods or he can tell the trader he's cancelling his end of the deal and he won't need to worry about giving him the goods. The trader should pay for all the fees Stringcheese receives though when he's claiming back his money and as well pay for the original sending fee too.

 

A passport is certainly NOT necessary for a $400 pickup. I'm pretty sure a lot of times you don't even need photo ID for that size.

Even if the passport expired, he should just spend the $6 or whatever it is where he lives and get a state ID or something. Having you wait is absolutely absurd.

 

Definitely the seller, you've done your part. He's even gone there and confirmed that the money is there so why hasn't he given you what you bought? My guess is he is either trying to buy time or trying to scam.
