    My first car crash.

Hello, i was in my first ever car crash yesterday early morning. My friend and I came out of it with no cuts and bruises however i kept waking up last night in fear and being cold, sometimes not able to move because i was so scared. Why is this? Is there a way to stop this?

It may be of Trauma from the accident.
Your best bet would be to contact a pro/counsellor.

You could be very stressed, might need to see your doctor.

I remember seeing a thread like this. But you were probably traumatized from the accident. If you don't feel comfortable driving or being in a car, just wait until you feel better.

If it happened once, it will less likely happen again.

It seems like you are traumatized from the accident. I suggest you take it easy for the next few days, nothing stressful. If the problem still persists in a week, I would try counselling.

You might have a small amount of residual trauma and stress left over after the accident. If it was a fairly bad one, I would assume that is completely normal and should go away pretty quickly.

If it keeps reccurring nightly for weeks/months on end, you might be suffering from PTSD (Post traumatic stress disorder) and should seek some counselling or speak to a professional.

Zerkerfist is completely right, I love looking at his posts, such an intellectual and well-spoken dude,
You're more then likely suffering from PTSD because it was your first car accident experience, so it's completely normal to feel anxiety, but if you keep feeling this way for months on months, you really will need to speak to a therapist/professional.

Yeah what I would do is for the next few days keep hydrated properly, maybe a light walk etc and eat lots of healthy foods to kind of make your health a little better to help you sleep.

Also if it continues you may want to seek a good counselor.

You're suffering from a Psychological issue known commonly as PTSD, or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. There are really only two "cures" for said issue, those of which are time and counseling. If possibly, you might want to see a therapist about it, talk through the problems, however this may be pricy. Also, over time, slowly bring yourself back into driving(that is if you've left) and try to be more cautious and you'll slowly begin to go back to normal.

Were you the victim of the car crash?
I don't know how it is in your country but in ours, the person who caused the accident has to pay for all your medical feels.
    Xrays, therapy, all of it.

If the person refuses, tell him that you will call the police. He has to pay.

Trauma and shock playing, Either leave it and it will gradually get better or consult a doctor.
