    Losing Weight

Hey guys I just want to start off by saying that if your here to troll or be a butt-muncher then you might as well just leave now.

So yea wazzup guys? Im Steve, I just turned 17 and Im ready to shed the weight. Im 6'1 and I weigh 302pounds ( I know right major fat ass, but not all of it is fat I have a good bit of muscle too) My goal is simple, loose 10lbs/month for a year so that I can be around 180 for my 18th birthday. My plan is to start of by walking 2miles/day and 50 situps/dayalong with a balanced diet. As I get more fit I will increase it when i feel its needed. Would I need to work out more or would this do?

    Thanks guys

Honestly, if you're looking for weightless as the most important thing, and muscle increase as secondary, your two most important things are Cardio and a healthy diet. Make sure when you're exercising, you're working out hard and your heart rate is always up. Make sure you keep a very balanced diet, don't eat outside food, be sure to watch your calories, and try to make your "walk" into a brisk jog.

    In a nutshell:
Cardio, work hard, move quickly and keep your heart rate up.

Balanced, healthy diet. Watch your calories.

If you're really dedicated you may want to look into the "paleo" way of eating, in a nutshell it's eating what cavemen ate. You can google it for more information. On the topic of exercise BSGPSelier nailed it, if you main goal is weight loss then work on cardio, even pushups and sit-ups can help (sit-ups especially if you have a belly fat problem). As you further progress I would advise you to start a workout routine dealing in some form of weights.

It's rather simple if you have the motivation to do it. It will be a challenge though. Just exercise your ass off. You don't really even need a plan. Push your limits. You don't need to worry about muscle yet, so stick to cardio. Running, swimming and biking are all good ways to shed fat. Also diet is the other huge part. Find a diet that works for you. Watch your sugar and salt intake. Eat white meat instead of red meat and eat a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables. Eat several small meals a day instead of 3 large ones. Try to only drink water and get plenty of rest.

Dimethyl please don't take this as a personal attack.

While Dimethyl does raise good points if you want to stick to this for a year and you want to be a certain weight by your birthday MAKE A PLAN! Also watch the amount of fruit you eat, while fruit IS healthy, it does contain sugars, no not table sugar, but sugar nonetheless and it CAN have a detrimental effect if overeaten.

Having a plan to lose weight is a must, but I meant he doesn't really need an exercise plan. He just needs to just find something he enjoys whether it be running or swimming, and just do it. There shouldn't be a certain amount of miles you should run, but just do as many as you can. Push yourself and you will only get better.

Fruit is very important in a healthy diet, but I didn't mean it should be overeaten. That goes for anything though. You just have to teach yourself to eat less, which is hard for anyone who is overweight.

When it comes to losing weight, cardio and healthy eating is what you want to focus on. For eating, eat when you're hungry, but eat healthy. I'd honestly suggest doing P90X (it's what helped me lose weight) it builds a load of muscle and shreds lbs.

Some people go overboard and eat too much fruit thinking that you can't get an excess amount of it.

After a while you're going to need to do some sort of weight training too.

Go try Wrestling, one of the best workouts you will get. As said above as well P90x also works pretty well.

    Losing Weight

Hi, i go for boxing competitions and regularly have to cut weight to fight in my desired weight class. Here are some tips and advise ( all over internet though :)

    1. Balanced diet and cut down on calories. The most important thing in losing weight is the dieting part. Restrict the amount of calories you eat! Make sure to use a calorie counter which can be found freely on google.

    http://www.healthyweightforum.org/eng/calculators/calories-required/

This is a great website to begin with :)

    2. Excercise. You want to keep a good habit of working out regularly too! Find a sport you enjoy taking part it. ( running, swimming, walking, boxing ) Anything! For now you are on the heavy side so it will be difficult to start. But as you persist, you will find it sooo much easier as time passes. Seriously! Excercise will keep you fit and increases your metabolism! However, take note :Body Weight

When running at 10.78 km per hour, a 125-lb. person can expect to burn 660 calories after 10 km, according to statistics from Harvard Medical School. If you weigh 155 lbs., you can burn around 818 calories running at the same speed. People weighing 185 lbs. may burn 976 calories.

    Read more: http://www.livestrong.com/article/314931-calories-burned-while-running-10-km/#ixzz1lnwj4ARR

So as you can see working out does not burn alot of calories! A hard workout might only burn the calories of one meal. The reason why i am telling you this is because some people i know think that just because they go for a 30min jog, they think that they can indulge in a huge feast which is WRONG!

    3. Eat five small meals a day. I've read it up and it says that eating many small meals daily boosts your metabolism!

    4. STICK TO YOUR PLAN AND GOODLUCK!

You can also try a program introduced to me by a friend "Insanity" Never tried it but it seems great.

You should prioritize a healthy diet over exercise, but exercising is still very important! You should avoid all types of sugary drinks and only limit yourself to water. An ideal diet would consist of lots of greens and lean meats, Fish/Chicken/etc.

As for your exercise routine, walking is a GREAT way to start off, but maybe after the second week you can try jogging the 2 miles, and then once your comfortable with a light jog, try upping up to a run! And if your doing sit ups to try and lose a gut, then go on right ahead and do those sit ups! But if your doing sit ups just to try and lose weight, might I suggest you go for another run instead of those 50 situps, although both would be even better! Running and walking is by far the best way to lose weight as exercising goes, you should be losing weight all over your body through running.

I've been trying to get in shape recently too and I've stuck with a vigorous diet and a consistent jogging routine, and I got to say it's hard to stay consistent, but you gotta stay head strong! You can do it! Best of luck.

    Anorexia/Bulimia.

    Read up.

    I KID.
But on a serious note, you will do yourself justice by holding back on the carbs while doing cardio(as mentioned in the above threads), unless you want to get buff of course.

If you can find more motivation in you you can maximize your average weight loss to 2kg/4.4pounds per week. Don't go over that, it's dangerous. Good luck, never miss a training :)

    Losing Weight

thanks for all the help guys, I just went on a 4 mile walk, Im thinking of doing it twice a day and after 3 days bumb it up to a 5 mile walk twice a day and then start jogging.

Im limiting myself only to water and Im about to start using the calorie counter. I really love swimming, biking, and walking so Im probably going to use those 3 to mainly loose weight till I shed a good bit of weight and then Ill worry about gaining muscle.

I am in the same boat as you. 6 feet tall about 280. I still have baby fat i guess but wrestling and the workout dvds insanity (not for everyone sicne its very hard for some people). when i go to wrestling practice (I wrestle for a top school in my state and am on varsity so i need to practice hard and am motivated) i can lost like 7 lbs+ pepr 2 hr practice. of course some of it is water weight but the other part of it is calories because i leave WET and sweating. great workout. then for fun jus chill in a hottub because your sweating the whole time. also it helps your soreness! =) hope i helped.

    INSANITY MEMBER! I DID IT.
