Vouches. But I also disregard upgrade vouches or anything worth under 10M as a real vouch. So it's really the quality of vouches that matters imo.

its a toss up.. people with a lot of vouches but join date could be a week ago.. probably wouldn't trust them..
someone with an 05 join date and small number of vouches.. id probably trust more becuase they're old but i still wouldn't trust much becuase of vouches

so to answer the question.. neither i guess

A person with both would be great but I personally think the vouchers, just cause it shows they have been more active in the community. :)

i choose vouches because they have more trust in the community rather than a person who has just been here for a while.

For me to even consider a vouch it has to be over 150m.

I do a thorough sweep of most traders that I associate with and the first thing I see is their join date, the only reason this gives a person more trust is the fact that they have survived for multiple years without making a scam or bad trade.

The amount of trust I have with someone largely depends on their vouches, not just the amount, but the quality of the vouch itself, I will not even consider going first to someone unless they have been trusted with at least double the amount of our trade.

All in all, I base it on everything, Join date / vouches / feedback / and the way the person talks on Msn, you can tell weather a person is trustworthy or not. I trust my own judgement but as for your question. '2005-2008 join date or 20-40 vouches?' I would have to say the vouches, because Arcus Isader joined June 2011 and has 800+ vouches worth trillions of gp.

Just one example that I seen, many others in the same situation and there are some people that joined between 2005-2008 with less then 50 posts and less then 5 vouches.

    Just my 0.02

    Both say nothing imo.

You can make an account in 2005 and have it inactive until now..

You can also get 20-40 vouches for training like 1-10 skill levels on runescape for example.

In my opinion I would check the quality of the vouches and look over the individuals post's on the forum to see what their intentions are.

    3k+ trades / 1 year join date at least / $100 donor+ I would consider reasonably trusted.

I don't think post count adds any trust, but it does show you're active and fairly dedicated, which shows that you probably won't scam.

Three determining factors for me are amount/quality of vouches, amount/quality of posts and the ranks you hold (ie competion winner, off-topic moderator)

If it's an old member with good post count, depending on the trade, you can tell they don't wouldn't ruin there sythe account, where as loads of vouches can give members a amount of trust to scam on a big trade, but probably not on a small, hard question, I'd haft to check their information over first & get a MM if it's a trade I feel a bit uncomftable with

It's all in the quality and number of such vouches. This is why I don't brag about numbers personally. It's pointless. I do though put my highest valued (me second) at the top of my vouch page. The ones where I went first go at the bottom no matter what. I had someone get REALLY angry at me the other day because I wouldn't accept any of his "$500 vouches" where he went first as trustworthy.

The amount you trust someone can't be determined by certain things, only certain factors can alter a personal persons trust for something or someone. Personally, for me, it is a variety of successful trades for varying amounts of value.

For your certain situation, however, I would have to vote for the vouches. It shows some experience and trust in the market. Someone with a 2005 joindate could only have two or three experiences with the market, and only logged into Sythe a couple of times. It's not enough.

    Of the two? Vouches, probably.

However, I think that the MOST determining factor is money donated. Quite obviously a member who's donated $200 is going to be much more trusted than someone who's donated nothing or a small amount.

I go by the rule that if somebody donated a certain amount, they almost 100% certainly won't scam an amount smaller than that. For example, I don't think a $100 donator would scam on a $50 trade. That would be ignorant and pointless, and for the most part, that doesn't happen. There may be a small amount of times where it does, but that number is extremely fractional compared to the amount of scams that occur by those who haven't donated or that donated smaller amounts.

Many evaders cr8 multiple accs having old join dates. Have seen 3 myself so old join date with only few old posts smells of scam. I think Mods should ban the accounts which are inactive for more than 10 months.

Type of trades - Does the person always sell gold? Buy gold? Offer services? Sell accounts?

Imo someone who only sells accounts or gets certain services done on his account is more likely to scam. Sometime back someone who sold 100+ accounts recovered all accounts after getting caught and banned for scamming.

Donator - I wouldnt mind trading with donators who have donated a good amount. I would happily go first in a 80m trade to a 100$ donator.

Anyone who is selling/has sold an account - Almost all the accounts sold get recovered. Maybe one account every few hundred dont. This is just my opinion tho.

20-40 vouches or a 2005 member with 0 vouches I'd have to say the 20-40 vouches, that's why I voted for it. A 2005 member with 15 vouches, a little tougher question, but I agree with N4N0, he knows what he's talking about.
