Actually, his future is going to suck. While he most certainly will be the center of mucho attention...

I doubt he'll hold much of a valuable relationship. His understanding of how things work will limit him from experiencing the finer things in life...

Think of it like the Matrix. Once you're unplugged and see the truth, everything becomes bitter and tastes like ash. Ignorance truly is bliss. Stephen Hawking has said this himself, that the burden is great, but he is happy because he will value this existence.

Wow future Steven Hawking. As much as I would like to be this kid, I have other feelings as well. This kid is going to be attacked on all directions be the media.

Just read the entire article, and I found this.

ANYWAYS, I can't wait to see what he accomplishes in the future. It seems like something you would see in a movie, or the beginning of a comic book series.

    How shall I phrase this....
    How about Bullshit.
Major psychologists say that after IQ 140, your intelligence is no longer affected by your IQ, but rather by your actual environment and surroundings. It is important to know that IQ is a measure of retardation, not intelligence. Secondly, IQ stands for intelligence quotient, meaning that because he is 2, his IQ score is divided by 2 to get a score. The test is basically heavily biased towards young kids.

    As for this:
The dad is right, not because the kid is smart, but because the dad tells his kid he's smart, and acts like a lesser being to him. By patronizing his own son, he will think that he is unbelievably exceptional and will call his dad an idiot.

Talking at nine months: Around half the people I know, including me, started talking in the 8-10 month range. Not special IMO

Reading: Can this kid read? learning to comprehend words and phrases is a neat little trick psychologists have been teaching parents for ages, but it actually hinders progress when children learn to recognize letters

Vocabulary and complex sentences: This is "Parent Pushing". When you shove knowledge down young children's throat, they will accept it, but this kid is no more exceptional than any other. If you bother to teach any two year old what this kid knows, they will learn it without any issues, and it's simply a matter of parenting, and a VERY smart move on the parent's part, because they can practically guarantee an Ivy League scholarship using this newspaper article as evidence of this kid's intelligence, even though it is no more than that of a regular child

the talent in the new generation is getting stronger. Just the other day i was watching a 12 year old basketball star, he plays on the same level of college players. In about 20 years we should be really far ahead. Btw i cant wait to see what his limits are if he has any.

    Probably a future Sheldon.

Nah, but honestly, this kid could be great for large corporations or Science or anything, really, but his life, how would that pan out. Hopefully he doesn't have social struggles or difficulties understanding emotions or anything.

I have to say though that I am glad we are producing a genius here and there in our modern society... it keeps a small glimmer of hope for the future of mankind alive in my heart.

God knows I'm an example of what NoAmYoung said...

IQ in the mid 140's - blew through school as a young'n (at the beginning of 1st grade I was recommended to be put into 3-5th, my parents wouldn't have it though) and still was planned on graduating highschool mid 11's or early 12's (age)

Got into middle school, family trouble, lotsa moving, and started struggling more and more. Highschool was miserable for me, mainly because I connected with adults far more easily than with teenagers of my age. I never found stuff they thought was funny to be so... And still I came close to failing Geometry, in my opinion one of the easiest mathematical subjects, in 9th grade.

    Eff my life.

I want to take an IQ test too ^_^

But quite honestly, same thing as Wolfdog happened to me.

I just didn't socialize with people my age when I was younger because quite honestly, I found them just simply stupid. Their jokes weren't funny, and they appeared to have the mental understanding of an 8 year old. (That's normal though, since they well... were 8).

Wow that's amazing! A 2 year old would usually crawl, eat and sleep but this baby is using his time efficiently!

Great way of putting it, the movie thing. From what he's showing now, despite all the difficulty and media attention his and his family will be faced with, he's most likely going to do great things with his life.

Funny how people are saying he's just a normal kid. What normal kid learned how to pick his clothes out at 4 months? Even if the parents forced him to learn a few things, at least the parents had the initiative to ensure their kid has a bright future.

I am extraordinarily jealous, if this is exactly what they're making it out to be.

Oh, and they should enjoy it now, before he starts smoking pot.
