    Promise Rings?

Hey, I got a question on promise rings..

If I'm buying one for my girlfriend, do I buy 2 rings? One for me, one for her? or.. :/ I don't really understand it.

Any more info on promise rings is appreciated, lol :).

Which of the two are you referring to:

    • Pre-engagement ring, a ring worn to signify a commitment to a monogamous relationship.
    • Purity ring, a ring worn to signify a pledge to sexual abstinence until married.

Promise rings. Well I'd tell you to do what I did for me and my girlfriend. Buy two rings, one for you and one for her, and have an engraving on the inside, an engraving that is meaningful to the both of you.

You just get her the ring by itself to signify that you really want to be with her, and If she wants to get you one, then she will, if not.....

You just get her one. You could probably ask your mom for one, and give your girl that one. They can be pretty pricey, and you will probably not see the ring again if you break up. Make it look nice, and be a dear to her.

Only one ring is needed, to justify you're feelings towards her.

    Promise Rings?

Honestly, if your young promise rings are kind of stupid. A promise ring is supposed to be a sort of pre-engagement thing to signify your committment to one another, but at a young age chances are the relationship won't work out.

I got a 'promise' ring for my highschool girlfriend but didn't want to look cheesy and like a young, naive idiot, and so I kind of gave it my own twist. I bought the nicest ring I got afford at the time (only cost $400-500 :p) a few months into our relationship, and I gave it to her with a handwritten note tucked into the ring box. In the note I explained how much I loved her and that this ring would be my promise to her that for as long as he were together, if not forever, that I would always love her as best I can and treat her the way she deserved to be treated, like a princess. I made it clear that it had nothing to do with marriage or engagement, just my most sincere promise to cherish whatever time I had with her.

We lasted 3 more years after that, and she wrote that ring every single day until she moved away. I don't regret getting it for her either as I felt I was as mature about it as I could possibly be at 16 years of age.

That is so adorable! You are a real gentlemen -- I wish more guys would care this much about the girls they date instead of thinking they need every other girl in the world at the same time. Thank you for showing that there are real Gentlemen out there! I'm sure she loved it!
