Why does everyone hates runescape in real life?

This... A dude in my school got beaten up just for saying he played runescape and said he has a girlfriend in there, the kids jumped on him...

 

Quite a few people played at secondary school (high school) and they were friends who were "not to be fucked with", so there was comments about shit it was/is or w.e

Perhaps its called nerdy because of people such as zezima...??

 

I don't really pay attention to people like that..When I was in school, I played what I wanted...I played pokemon in my school when I was 14...I still play pokemon tbh...

No one has ever said anything about the games I play, of course that could be because I am told I am pretty intimidating..=/

 

In my school, like 80% of the guys play runescape, even one teatcher plays it too ;o

 

Lots of people played runescape when they were in public school. They probably only remember the shitty graphics, so when they hear that you play runescape they think its still that and make fun of you.

 

Was typing an essay up in the computer lab during my spare and a kid sat down beside me and just started playing runescape, kind of made me uncomfortable :s

 

Most of the people in my school don't really give a shit, I see a lot of people playing Runescape and Runescape private servers in their spare time. I've never played it in school myself though, since I prefer to study or socialise.

 

My friends think its "Gay" and has really bad graphics. It was a game my friends played in Primary School and they think its a childish game.

 

Ok, geeks, dorks and nerds stereotypically play 'nerdy' games with goblins and elfs, leveling up with swords etc, all of which RuneScape involves, but with a medieval twist, people will think your a nerd, and call you gay, so then others will not think that they like the nerdy side of life etc.

 

Thing is, what i find nerdy is when people sit on MW3 for like 6 hours or more per day, that's just sad, the most i can play is like 2 hours and i get bored.

 

Most people think this game is gay and stuff, a couple of my mates know I play and do stuff to do with runescape on this site, but sarcastically comment, oh you're so sad what are you doing with your life, and we all laugh it off. But I never get bullied or anything I'm a god damn frickin baws!

 

So if RuneScape is a tremendous waste of time, what does that make other games? Is Call of Duty or console gaming a waste of time? It's a game just like any other online game, so it isn't a waste of time for those who enjoy playing it.

 

You're a pair of testicles? No offense intended or anything, but baws is Scottish slang for "testicles", so you can understand my confusion.

Oh, and as far as Runescape goes, I just hate it graphically and the whole Crafting aspect of most MMORPGs. I can't see the point in wasting hundreds of hours looking for rare items in a video game. Doesn't seem fun to me at all.

 

They think it's ''Nerdy'' and for geeks, stereotype thing.

 

I entrusted a friend with the knowledge of my playing RS about 6 years ago, nearly 1 month later word got out to my main circle of friends and I got so much crap for it. I claimed to have to quit about 5 years ago, from then on no one knows I still play. Well "play" more as I'm still involved with GP sales and such but regardless, I can't even bring it upon myself to tell my close cousins/friends. My parents and two siblings know and that's it. Last year I had a girlfriend for 9 months, she never knew, I'm currently in a relationship of about 4 months and she has no idea either.

Personally, I wouldn't tell anyone about any game I play. Whether it be RS, or even if I played WoW, COD, MWF, etc. After the first time trusting someone with it and having the outcome be so bad, I learned, never again.

 

I can understand that, to a point, but games like that are more competive on match by match basis, and provide gratification and fun for the "here and now".

I don't understand what spending hundreds of hours finding what a company deems a "rare" item gives you, other then the ability to show other people that you are willing to waste your life in front of a computer. As for the people who enjoy the actual journey and fighting and social aspects of MMORPGs, I can understand that. But most people craft and search for rare items. That is what I think is a waste of time.

 

Dude it happens the same in my school tbh, a kid got his ass kicked last year because he was wearing a computer's game t-shirt

 

apparently its not as good as WoW or something
but it all depends on personal preferences
