    Beware - Phishing

Many of you probably already know about this.
Many of you have probably even encountered this!
But I decided to post this thread, as someone asked me about it in game just the other day, and I had to inform them what was going on.

There are phishing e-mails being sent out to your e-mail address, saying you have received an infraction for Real World Trading.
NOW BE WARNED! They look 100% legit, but they aren't.
They ask you to click the link, and log into RuneScape to prove you did not commit the offence.

    DON'T CLICK IT

It is a scam, if you log in to the fake link (yes I know, it looks incredibly real), they will then have your username and password, and therefore your account.

DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU.

    Beware - Phishing

I get like 5 of these a day, they're so bloody annoying I'm considering changing my email. I'm not even sure how these idiots got it in the first place.

    Beware - Phishing

They get your emails off websites like Sythe where people post their MSN in public, I suggest to hide your email and only PM people want to add them, this also prevents imposters and getting scammed on Sythe.

    Beware - Phishing

In the past 4 months, I think I've received about 500-1000 emails from jagex, claiming that I'm getting infractions and becoming a mod. They're getting very annoying :S.

    Beware - Phishing

I think we all get those e-mails.

I never saw a single one until I joined Sythe and started advertising an MSN address in my signature. Then all of a sudden, the fake e-mails start pouring in ;)

    I know they're fake anyway. 1. I don't play RS anymore much. 2. I follow the rules.

I've been phished in the past however, but not through e-mail.

    Beware - Phishing

Anyone who is silly enough not to double check the link before entering in there password deserves to be hacked. And in all honesty if they are threatening you as the customer doesn't it ring alarm bells in your head...?

Sorry to be so blunt but if you're that stupid to fall for phishers you deserve it. I've been getting well over 2-3 a day for about 8 months. Remember jagex will always inbox you in game.
