    "Imposters"

I was selling some gold 4 days back, and I only sell to trusted bulk buyers for safety. As I was contacting people there was one specific deemed very trusted buyer that had 3 imposters try to add me within 10 minutes and the real traders accept my invite for add afterwards.

This got me to thinking...How many of these trusted buyers and sellers actually make up their own imposter accounts and in order to scam and not be liable for payment. I am 99% certain I know of 1 person already that does this (not naming any names out of respect).

    Any similar stories?

I hope this doesn't happen, would make those 'trusted' people a disgrace if they did that. This is why you should always either add the MSN yourself and PM the person at the same time, a lot safer this way.

I highly doubt that the big gold buyers/sellers make their own impostor accounts LOL. I'm sure it has happened in the past before, but likely with scamming noobs who weren't very well known anyways. My guess would be that it would likely be sloppily stages aswell and wouldn't go according to plan.

As for the big name guys, they have tons of impostors simply because other greedy fucks come along and think that maybe they can make some money off pretending to be one of these guys and fooling new/careless traders into making mistakes. And you would be surprised how frequently people actually fall for it.

To be honest, I don't think anyone who is a bulk buyer/seller would make their own impostor. Bulk buyers and sellers are so busy with sales/purchases, I doubt they'd have any time spend attempting to scam their buyers.

And not to mention that it's kinda stupid.

    Extremely stupid actually..

If you were a bulk RSGP buyer/seller you would be making BANK. Why would you want to jeopardize your whole business and position of power and respect, just so scam a few measly mills on the side? You would have to be one sad ass kid to pull off something like that.

Trusted sellers and buyers already make enough without needing to scam anybody. New users on the other hand would probably just scam with their own account rather than making imposters:p

That is exactly what impostors do though. They add you when they know you are buying gold from that person, so that it seems totally legitimate and you don't think it is suspicious that they have contacted you.

This should not make you suspicious about the actual gold seller themselves in any way though.. they just have too much at stake to risk their whole reputation and business to scam. The long term business benefits from legitimate trading vs. scamming and risking everything, should be incentive enough to not even bother taking all that time to create impostor accounts. They would just be wasting their time and would come off as a complete joke of a gold trader!

Impostors are usually easy to pick out. If the msn doesn't match up with the one on the thread, then it's an imposter. If it's an MSN account that looks similar to the guy who's legit, well then he isn't doing his job right.

If you're going to become a large seller of a certain good, you need to create every possible impostor email you can think of.

    Ex. [email protected]

    [email protected]
    [email protected]

    etc.
