Depends on the budget and size you want. I have a 19' monitor at 1440x900, not the best but does the job. I will get a better one when this one breaks.

If you posted the same thread somewhere else, you're not exactly allowed to post it again elsewhere, that's spam...

But to answer your question, quality of monitors can essentially be determined by price. Usually, you'll pay more for a better product, as long as you get it from a trusted retailer and manufacturer - NEVER buy refurbished with monitors, especially not flat panels, since they DO have a life span and get all shitty the more you use them. A few of my favorite manufacturers are LG, Acer (my current monitor), BenQ, Samsung and Toshiba. Most of the time if they make TVs then they make good monitors too :p I've had the best experiences with BenQs and Acers.

Depending on desk space, budget, and computer specs, the correct monitor should be different.
Assuming these are all unlimited, I suggest any 27" monitor with a 120hz refresh rate, the actual important stat. 3D is an option if you're into that stuff

You may actually want to go to a store and look at the monitors they have because many times the specs of a monitor will be good but it will be built like crap. You also want to pick a good brand that overall has low failure rates and good reviews across the board, not just on that one product.

If you're looking for good I like HP ones or Samsung. Toshiba works too. Depending on size and what you plan on doing with it.

I've got a Samsung 24" monitor, it's quite good for gaming and also general use. Watching movies is particularly good as well.
